Sydney Uni always have a particularly small and very mobile pack, they always have tiny number 8s that tend to play as 7s at higher levels and locks that tend to play as 6s when they move up.

Examples of the 7 include McCutheon and Tim Davidson and examples of the 6s are Dennis and McCalman.

I agree they play tight rugby and love a pick and drive but that's more a tactical decision then cattle methinks.

Fatprop,

Think Lindommer was referring to you saying Gill will be crap at the tahs.

I thought you did it on purpose, but no I guess not?

yeah I was being sarcastic, but then I got thinking on what Hooper could actually add and "change" the mire that is the Tahs

It's probably heresy but I think either of these young blokes can be as good as Poey. Hooper plays more like a six though. It's a shame he's not 10kg heavier.

I think Gill has the potential to be better. I'd also like hooper to be 10kgs heavier and a few inches taller. He would be a dynamic 6.

With a bit of height, he would be an awesome six. Tonight's the chance for him to pick-up a few tips from Higgers whilst they're hanging out together on the fringes.

wtf would hooper put on 10 kgs and be a 6
he is a great 7 and probably his best asset is his speed> he puts on weight and loses that
it seems in aus everyones always convinced of the need to convert players to other positions
i think having 3 players competing for gold 7 is a good thing

Unless one of them does a Nic Evans. I could see one of them being content to maybe/maybe not warm the Wallabies bench or be a squad-filler for the bulk of his playing years, but two is pushing it. Especially with Pocock being a durable 80 mins player. In favour of them not taking their skills overseas is 1) their ages -- still pretty young and less likely to uproot themselves to chase big money in Europe or Japan and 2) opensides don't seem to be as useful over there, at least in the French scene. I know I looked for news on George Smith after his move to France but he seemed to vanish without a trace. He was still in stellar form here when he left, yet barely a mention of him in any of the match reports.

very even, and both good. Bowside may have summed it up on the game thread. either way I am still undecided.

good call. I really like the fact that we have 3 of the best 5 fetcher 7s in the world.

Hooper looked the better in the first half but got isolated a couple of times in the 2nd half when he ran away from support. Gill had more of an influence as the game went on and had a very good 2nd half. They were 2 of a very few players who could be proud of their performances in that game.
