AB's v Wobs at Twickers would sell out as there are stacks of Aussies & Kiwis in London plus all the Poms would go in hope of the Aussies getting done.

Don't NZ & Aus have guaranteed returns for these matches from the Hong Kong Government?

yeah, I think you're right there fp. I think its more what we get from HK govt/media rather than just ticket sales.

I agree with Cyclo - the big wigs seem to be trying to squeeze as much juice out of it as they can - the fans want to see something different!

JO'N quoted today as saying the HKG RU has badly stuffed up local marketing of gate sales! Admitted sales were 'below expectations' for 30/10. Also that game was certain to proceed as planned in HKG, but 'definitely no more 4th Bledisloes'.

I don't mind 4 Bledisloe Cup games as long as there are 2 each in Australia and New Zealand.

At least it gives some leeway if you stuff up in the first game like we did in Melbourne.

Besides, in the All Blacks case, playing two in New Zealand is too much of an advantage to the All Blacks.

Especially cos every game that's played here is essentially half a home crowd for the ABs anyway, and there's usually about 8 aussies in the crowd when we play over there.

Damn immigints!

JON is an authority on stuffing up local marketing.

I'm all for progressing the game in Asia, the US and of course Antarctica, but with our own finances (and even more so NZs) in the shithouse, and with all the money give away ideas that came up on the other thread, it might not be such a bad idea to make a buck here and there?

I believe there are more than 200,000 kiwis in London alone, mostly between the ages of 20-30 I would guess.

So 5% of the population lives in London, about 10% in Oz, who knows how many elsewhere...who actually lives in NZ? Is it just Pacific Islanders?;)

On that basis, which venue would be more finacially viable, Twickenham or Wembely? With those sorts of numbers it is worth a go. If the revenue is going to be used wisely in NZ and Aust it can only be a good thing.

Sales will increase closer to the date, most expats go away during August, also short term contracts tend to finish and begin around August - so there will be plenty more opportunities for marketing as the date gets closer.

J O'N stated that the game will go ahead and is going up to Hong Kong in the near future to go and sort it out

I think that'd be about right. There's far to many around, I think there's at least 4-5 where I'm working at the moment. Completely outnumbered.

Dont you hate it when those bastards move from one side of the world to the other and then go on as though they own the joint!

If the Darkness descends tonight, there is no way I will venture to Honkers to see the Men in Gold humiliated, but when we win tonight, I'll be on to Cathay Pacific first thing Monday.
