Homophobic remark in Tahs Brumbies game

There isn't really an avenue for one captain to take the other aside for a conversation in the absence of the referee. It's pretty hard to see the situation being sorted out on the pitch in an effective manner without it becoming public knowledge over the referee's microphone.
I thought Moore was the captain?

I don't actually understand what happened.
Pocock says after the game that he didn't actually hear it,so he can't name the culprit, but he is outraged anyway.
Is that how it happened?

Yeah, I thought he was using the term as an adjective

I know it's not what you were suggesting but using it as an adjective doesn't make it any less offensive and it still falls within the gay inclusion policy..

Everyone knows "faggot" is a slanderous term but calling someone gay as an intended insult is basically stating that being gay is of a lower form and something to be ashamed of.

This is where we disagree, I would have preferred Pocock to catch up to him after the game, sit down over a beer and explain how what was said not acceptable

A lesser issue perhaps.

Being called out like that publicly is often the only way to truly get a response, beyond "ja sorry boet you're right"........until Pocock moves away and the issue doesn't end.

ESPNscrum lists Moore coming off in the 66th minute.

The SMH article says Pocock spoke to Joubert in the 67th and again in the 72nd minute. He would have been captain at that time.

OK this thread is becoming semantic pedantics, occasionally frantic, with a touch of personal over-romantic to that guy with the muscles, who ain't from Brussels, with an opinion on discriminatory scuffles.

So let's stop that shit because we've had too many of those.
Does anyone actually have something new to say?

The incident, as alleged, would be an act contrary to good sportsmanship and is a penalty offence pursuant to Law 10 - Foul Play in my book. What Pocock did was spot on.

Really?

I think it's fantastic that we have such a clear leader of men in Australian rugby, of a calibre not seen since John Eales.

We've got two 7's, both potential captains: One is an internationally respected man who runs his own charities, stands up for the rights of the individual and is an active campaigner for a cleaner, less destructive future for this country.

The other, is a vocal supporter of sexist players who physically intimidate female staff members.

Well he needs to get rid of that land rover logo from his Brumbies jersey (replace it with Tesla) then because they make only big cars and no electric or hybrid one's to my knowledge so their social irresponsibility is inimical to his world view.
How hypocritical that he uncomplainingly wears that jersey and take his cut of their $$.

I realise what you're saying is tongue in cheek but it really wouldn't surprise me if hadn't already asked to wear a jersey without the logo. He has a well documented opposition to wearing brands that don't align with his views.

On the ref cam video Moore is standing beside Pocock during the discussion............

In fact, with all the attention on Pocock it's been overlooked that Moore also spoke to Joubert during that conversation.

To mention Eales in the same breath as Pocock is fucking laughable.

He is not a "clear leader of men in Australian Rugby" - a lot of blokes don't like him for a lot of his views. He can have his own agenda, thats fine and I respect that.

Pocock is about using the media better than any rugby player ever has. He uses it to put his own agendas.

I just hope his probable selection as the reserve 7 in the wider squad is based on form alone and not pressure mounted by his mates in the media:rolleyes:

That's because Moore wasn't interested in grabbing the limelight for himself in the post match he was interested in The Issue

The second time must have been Pocock only then who would have been captain then.

I agree with you that all the attention is on Pocock because he has been outspoken about this issue before. I imagine if it had been another player (including just Moore), there would be almost no attention on them and the entirety of the focus on Potgieter.

Somebody like Pocock is actually being a great advocate for the game by linking his profile with a moral high ground. Good on him and any body else with the balls to face the public and express their beliefs. Better them types than piss ants that hide in the shadows. His name and his face are linked to his comments unlike some of the crap dribbled here.

Even if he didn't, the idea that you have to be utterly morally pure to oppose certain things you come across in life is as immature as it is silly. It's like telling Dr. King that he should get down from the pulpit because he cheated on his wife a few times.

Fuck me, give it a rest. The idea that Pocock is wearing any criticism at all in this is laughable but it seems in your eyes, he can't cop enough. Your constant posts about him needing to choose between a career in politics or Rugby, grabbing the limelight, pushing an agenda etc., are just too much.

Clearly you don't like the guy for a number of reasons but you are seeing things that just aren't there.

Well where's your adulation for Moore - he raised it too.
As I say - wait until he decides he doesn't like the nature of the industry you work in, or this sponsor or that.
No one is bigger than the team.
