No Bender & Clan have named a 6/2 bench so presumably have a forward-oriented game plan in mind:

Highlanders: Josh McKay, Waisake Naholo, Rob Thompson, Teihorangi Walden, Tevita Li, Josh Ioane, Aaron Smith, Luke Whitelock (c), James Lentjes, Liam Squire, Tom Franklin, Jackson Hemopo, Tyrel Lomax, Liam Coltman, Ayden Johnstone.
Replacements: Ash Dixon, Daniel Lienert-Brown, Siate Tokolahi, Josh Dickson, Shannon Frizell, Elliot Dixon, Kayne Hammington, Marty Banks.

Not sure that even a BP win will be enough to get them a QF but they'll surely give it a red hot go.

I hope Mack Mason has a blinder.
Time to show those crazy selectors that having him get splinters was a bad move.

I reckon Mason will get passed by Harrison pretty quickly and ultimately he won't end up being a regular starting Super Rugby 10.

The Tahs should have given him more opportunities but likewise, I don't think he's that great that purely giving him more experience would get him up to the right level.

I really like that front row, in fact I think it could be our best. Surprised not to see Holloway starting at lock, we seem to lack a bit of punch there. I thought they might start AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) at 15, Rona at 13 and Newsome on the wing, however I don't mind what they've done. I saw Newsome play a bit of NRC at fullback, thought he went pretty well.
This is a pretty important game for Mason. After his unfortunate game last start, he needs to be at least solid to give himself first crack at 10 next year (assuming Foley's gone), another poor showing and they will be looking for someone (anyone) else at 10. Possibly Harrison, although he's really still in short pants!

I'd just go with Harrison straight up, myself.

He could prove me wrong but I think he's shot.

He must know his professional career is on the line in this match after the debacle last time. A pity that most likely his pack will be on the back foot all night.

I must say in my opinion, the 'tahs treatment of him has been nothing other than shambolic. I have no doubt it has affected their recruitment adversely. Good luck any young buck dislodging the untouchables.

Mason could be a 15 possibly if he doesn't have a good game. Try Gordon at 10, at least Gordon would pose a genuine running game threat from 10.

Gutted to not be able to see Roff 2.0 in the final game. Clan probably won't make the finals unless they get the winning BP and the Cheifs win without one, so it's a sad end to the season: no Pocock, no Smuth.

Anyway, go for your life, Mason, I'll be wishing you well.

Yes exactly. Mason should have been given more of a run. If he failed then cut him lose not expect him to save the day after playing 5 minutes of football.

you are close to my favorite poster.

Reg I don't think I was too far off the mark in foreshadowing Swinton's rise on the Wallabies page months ago. The media is loving Swinton at the moment. Also I think you've been a bit harsh on Alex Newsome over the journey. Scored a try in each of the games against your boys this year (one at the SCG and one at Suncorp).

Beaudan Barrett has changed fly-half like Adam Gilchrist changed the role of the wicketkeeper in cricket. I'm not saying Gordon is Beaudan Barrett but they both have that turn of speed. The loss of Taqele has been huge and we haven't had a point of difference in the backline this year.
