Has a major Brisbane rugby club gone into receivership?

This may be under discussion on another thread. Yesterday morning I caught the end of a call-back radio conversation on 612 ABC Brisbane where a caller spoke of his inability to contact his rugby club in brisbane. He said that their phone remained unanswered and their website was down. Whilst I didn't hear the club's name, it was apparently adversely affected by the recent Brisbane floods. The ABC resenter said that he had heard of the problem and his producers were endeavouring to establish if the club had entered into receivership.

Perhaps our Bris Vegas members know more?!

I have ceased posting here, but, to try and help on this factual matter, I believe it is likely that this reference relates to Brisbane's The Rugby Club going into Voluntary Administration this week. This is a social and not a playing club, and is based within Brisbane's CBD.

Thanks for that RedsHappy. It's always better to get the facts in an unfortunate situation such as this. I'm glad it doesn't directly affect players at all levels. It's a sad reflection on the state of busineses today.
Glenn Stevens (RBA) needs to get out into the real world and see how businesses are hurting. Locally, a dress shop, a hairdresser and a restaurant have closed in the last four weeks, (and they're only the ones that I've seen), plus there are many "For Lease" signs in shop windows on the Gold Coast.

Enjoy tonight's game.

Yes its a social & not a playing club.
However the major problem is that The Rugby Club is the principal sponsor of the Brisbane Referees Association and has been for several years. Not easy to replace such a supporter in these difficult economic times (or for Glenn Stevens: these perfect economic times).
Will we have to take the logo off the front of our jerseys this week?

Don't go RH, this place thrives on diverse and passionate commentary.

Don't go mate, we'll just be left with Bruce's Robbieism interpretations to guide us on what the fuck the Wallabies are meant to be doing now. I am not complaining about Bruce but the CERN scientists had more than one team working on interpreting the Higgs-Boson experiment data to conclusively prove the hypothesis.

the situation on the Gold Coast is been monitored by the QRU, a similar bailout might be similar as to how the ARU interjected in the QRU.. But this time it will be the QRU taking administrative control of Gold Coast Rugby
