Clearly the biased ANZAC officials are out to get the Boks again. By rights he should have got a few months, but in a sneaky move Paul Tully is making sure he'll soon be back for the Boks, going backward in the scrum, giving away penalties and getting carded.

Disgraceful.

I can't believe Richie considered putting his face in the way of Greyling's elbow. Best angle 19 secs in.

You almost sound kind of happy that McCaw was smacked in the head???

Greyling should got a much longer sentence - IMO

Two weeks for that only makes rugby seem like a thug's game.

Who isn't!? On second look I thought Vermulean's cleanout was illegal too but it looks fine. Greyling should've got 10+ weeks.

You reckon it's ok to clean out with a shoulder to the head?

Look at the angle at 1:53

That is disgusting play.. He should be rubbed out for a long time. I hope South Africa decide not to move forward with him, on character alone. Somehow I dont think they will share the same opinion.

NZ had some real dirty players back when a more stone-age mentality was pervading rugby our rugby (Richard Loe springs to mind)

Greyling is a product of this mentality still pervading certain pockets of SA rugby.

Surprised Vermuelen was not cited as well. I reckon a shoulder to the head is actually more dangerous, not in any way excusing Greyling one bit.

To be fair to Greyling and Vermuelen they were trying to get Richie away form an illegal position playing the ball off his feet, again. If the Ref isn't going to apply the laws of the game to a certain player, I can understand their frustration taking things into their own hands... although going in with a forearm to the chin probably isn't the best way to do it.

Look at the below video at about 1:51 of Vermuelen attempting to clean out Richie. Yes his shoulder connects with Richie's head, but how else was he supposed to clean him out? The only thing visible above the other bodies was possibly part of McCaw's shoulder and his head. Which part of their bodies do players generally lead with when attempting to clear out at a ruck? Possibly a penalty against Vermuelen at most IMO (which the AB's got anyway).

As for Greyling, he should have got minimum 4 or 5 weeks. That was absolutely ridiculous and should be rubbed out of the game. There's no excuse for that behaviour and he cost his team dearly. Not to mention the damage he does to the reputation of South African rugby.

I struggle to believe you can really argue that deliberate shoulder clean out to a player's head is ever appropriate. It just isn't.

I struggle to see what other part of his body he could have used to clean McCaw out in that situation in an attempt to make it less cynical. McCaw's head and top of his shoulder are resting on Bekker's body while his hands are hanging onto the ball below.

Maybe, if a player cannot be cleaned out legally, they shouldn't attempt it by such means.
Anyway, I doubt I'll convince you otherwise, so I'll leave it there.

Probably. Good to see that the Saffas reminding everyone Bakkies isn't the only thug going around.
