Is he related to the O'Bleyendaals from County Cork?

A victim of the Christchurch Boys High School #10 factory production overcapacity. They just pump too many quality flyhalfs out for the local market place to cope with.

he captained the side to victory in the 2010 Junior World Championship in Argentina.

A national fucking disgrace that these people are so poorly reimbursed that they're forced offshore. AND LOST TO NZ RUGBY.

Surely some benevolent sheikh fluffybunny can do the honourable thing and indulge in a new hobby. Stuff the poofball.

Welcome the real world. Money talks and it talks louder overseas for SH players.

Yeah, I think they live just a short drive from the MacAki's (ma-car-keys, geddit?)

Not a Chiefs player but thought this was applicable to this thread, which is being used to detail NZ player movements.

A substantial loss for the Crusaders - Bleyendaal is arguably better than Tom Taylor. Sounds like another project player for the Ireland team.

I'll take Tom Taylor any day, looks like he could be as tough & as good as his old man if the fucking selectors would give him a decent run at 12 & move Crotty to 13 where he belongs, with Lee-Lo as bench cover for both.

On a more positive note, if even further off-topic for this thread, Andy Ellis has confirmed he'll be back for Super Rugby next year but will possibly earn some easy coin by missing the ITM Cup & playing in Japan instead. Good to see this kinda loyalty, esp when the guy's just been screwed again by the AB selectors & could likely earn some serious cash elsewhere. Good also if Canterbury are willing to let him go to Japan short-term: maybe that's a way for 2nd-tier players who don't need to prove themselves in ITM Cup to start their retirement fund & still come back for Super Rugby (and as a bonus open up ITM spots for guys who need to get up to Super Rugby standard). Win-win, I reckon.

I went to a Chiefs game many years ago v Brumbies at a cow paddock in Hamilton afternoon game no lights old rickety wooden grandstand.

Boys on utes and trucks downing the beers from early morning. Half time came Cheifs getting smashed by Larkham and co, local lad runs on the field crash tackles the Chiefs mascot (who has to be treated by the ambos) then jumps back over the fence and takes his place back in the stand gets his beer back from the misses to the cheers of the crowd.

Anyway as I said was many years ago - but wont be going back!

This will be an interesting test for the All Black production line. The upcoming RWC has skewed the market in that the established senior stars would normally be off overseas chasing the retirement fund. Because of the RWC they are hanging around and the young prospects are off overseas instead of hanging around in the shadows.

The talent the AB's have without them will see them well enough through the RWC barring a cruel injury run (Steven Donald for 10 in the 2015 RWC anyone). But when it will get interesting will be post RWC. When the older stars take off up North, will the younger guys (now middle aged, career wise) come back to fill the void? If not, there could be an experience vacuum in the AB set up.
