It's not a debate. It's a discussion. So we want to know which choices you disagree with and why. This is much better than insulting Gnostic by saying in he didn't watch any games and then not saying what selection you disagree with. I am not saying don't post I'm saying give us more info.

ps: Gnostic will probably get over it.

Hmmm, not so sure. He's a poster that rolls out detailed recollections of Aus teams and games over 20-30 years ago, so better be careful glad...;-)

I am told quiet often that I watch too much Rugby, be it live in person at the local field, on the tube or recordings of past games. It is clear that many here agree with me that if there is a game on it is a duty to watch it. Nothing more need be said regarding that little tid bit. :)

Surprising that the SMH team of the week fairly closely resembles mine with one stunning inclusion. Those worthies picked Alexander at THP!! :nta: Perhaps this proves what has been wrong with Oz front row play for some time. Many decry the weakness of our scrum and then whinge about getting picked on by refs but then continue to push for/select flashy props that do not do the job at the scrum. Alexander was penalised three times for binding on the arm and hinging in the Reds game whilst up against Daley, who hardly strikes fear into opposing THPs at the scrum (I expect that under Link and Alec Evans he will in a couple of years with his work ethic and physical attributes). There is no way in the world he fulfilled the core duties of a THP better than Slipper, Baxter or Fairbrother and I would say that Slipper was better around the field. Just another example of the SMH staff lack of Rugby nous IMO, maybe they didn't watch a game? ;)

It is getting very late in the day for somebody to step in and correct Alexander's set up issues prior to the RWC. I wouldn't say that it is not possible but surely as it stands now he would be ranked at best 4th best THP in Oz. and probably the same at LHP.

Yes Agreed. And Young, a dodgy loose head, is not the one to teach him.

Haven't looked at the SMH team of the week but I did glance through their player ratings and some of them are way off.

Alexander might be slightly up the scale at LHP but I think that Kepu, Slipper, Palmer, Baxter and probably Fairbrother in that order would be above him at THP. Since Foley stopped coaching him for the Wallabies he has been unable to hold the scrum up as it should be, to embarrassing levels. So he's good round the field? I don't care! His primary job at THP is to hold the scrum together and he has proven time and again that he can't. End of rant.

The SMH is odd...

Firstly, their player ratings are completely unrelated to team of the week...

Last week against the Stormers, Stephen Moore was one of the best players on ground despite his team failing, yet he was given a rating of 5/10 which was dished out to nearly all of the Brumbies players... so they're suggesting that he was only as good as his teammates?

This week both Lilo and Giteau received 7/10, yet Giteau was exceptional for the Brumbies and Lilo probably was the least effective of all their backline players...

And just to make it even more silly...

Ben Tapuai has made the SMH 'Wallaby Form Squad' after his performance on the weekend... the fuck?
