Do not forget that the first in line to expand the tournament are two clubs from Russia. Enisei-STM and Krasny Yar. I am not writing you the latest news from the Russian Union of Russia so as not to shock you much. But believe me, that your situation in the ARU is a kindergarten compared to the RUR. Moscow lobbyists are pushing Siberian clubs to Asia with all their might.

Global Rapid Rugby confident despite coronavirus curveball

RNZ - 15 Feb 2012

Rapid Rugby CEO Mark Evans is positive games will go ahead, with alternative plans expected to be announced this week.
"Everyone knows these are extraordinary and unusual circumstances. This doesn't happen every day or every year even and we've all got to work collaboratively to ensure that if at all possible, that things are disrupted as little as possible but we need to be adaptable," he said.
"The recent events have probably hit those teams particularly Shanghai and South China far more than others but I think we're pretty confident that we can keep the show on the road."

SFS big crowd that day. Then pissed off to Manly. Boo

Eastwood - 2002 & 2003 (including 2 Premierships, MOM in 2002 GFinal & SMH Club Rugby Player of the Year)

Manly - 2004 & 2005 (including 2005 R'Up in Ken Catchpole Medal)

Western Force for the inaugural season in 2006.

Eastern Suburbs - 2009 - 2011 (didn't get to play too often as the start of his Wallabies time).

It was Michael Foley, ex Coach of the Western Force, who put an end to non-selected WF players returning to the East Coast to play Shute Shield encouraging all of the WF squad to align/play in Perth Club rugby. Excellent move.

The Western Force won the trial 29-15 in steamy conditions 30c+ / 70% humidity. The game was tough and sometimes scrappy but it was a good pre-season hit out for both teams. The Force showed glimpses of the style of play that won the NRC last year (a great try from a scrum and another from a clever chip) but without a number of their top players they lacked cohesion at times. Eastwood showed a lot too and some of their tackling was brutal. Many thanks to the Eastwood guys for coming over and best wishes for your season ahead.

Global Rapid Rugby won't travel to China

AAP - 25 Feb 2020

No games will be played in China during the first season of Global Rapid Rugby due to the coronavirus.

The Lions - a team jointly supported by the China Rugby Football Association and New Zealand domestic outfit Bay of Plenty - will now play three home games in NZ and two in Australia.

The inaugural season will begin on March 14 with Fijian Latui hosting the China Lions under lights in Suva.

That will be followed by a double header at Perth's HBF Park, where Manuma Samoa will play Hong Kong's South China Tigers, before the Western Force take on the Malaysia Valke.

There is a replay. Not sure how it can be accessed, I got a link with my Eastwood newsletter.

Any chance Sunwolves brand could join global rapid rugby as great brand with great supporters and if could be the team GRR needs

It would require a completely new backer separate from the JRFU. It would also require them blessing it. Or it not conflicting with their current or future league structures. Running largely a completely independent squad. Not impossible but difficult to say the least.
