I doubt he'd like to be benched for Pocock.
I'd start him over Pocock, nearly as good at the breakdown and gives you a lot more everywhere else on the park. Aside from that he can play 6 and 8 decently as well.

Dont know where he's going though. Canberra times article, is that a hint? He played a short term stint under Cheika at Stade Francais, so Tahs?

I certainly wouldn't complain about him being at the Rebels.

I don't think we have room for him on the roster this year however. It's hard to imagine him going anywhere but Canberra. Lots of old links there, particularly Gregan and Larkham.

The Force are already a pack of backrowers....... And Maafu.........

The last thing they require is another flanker.........

It would seem unlikely but the Waratahs have a spare contract spot due to Sam Lane's withdrawal.

Does any other franchise have a spare contract position?

Are you taking the mickey?

So you'd start him ahead of Australia's best flanker, after he's been playing some half cocked rugby in the NH? Where he's played all different positions and his role has changed significantly since leaving OZ. He's basically a 6.5 that predominantly plays a link man role. He's still got plenty of skill but nowhere the intensity and accuracy that Pocock has now. Play him side on the other side or at 8 would work.

He'd be a great 8 for the Brumbies with Mowen at 6. The breakdown would be crazy. Or he could be on the bench and cover 6-12.

Can't fit him in and don't want him TBH. We are passed that phase.

What, of recruiting good players? Clearly.

But seriously, if the Rebels had a good young up-and-coming Aussie 7 in there I would see your point. But Scott Fugilstaller? Not only is he a Kiwi, but he's a kiwi who isn't up to Super Rugby. Saffy is OK but not the sort of bloke who you can build a team around.

All Super teams should be clamouring to get Smith in their set-up, even for a short period. He's a Wallaby legend who could lift the whole squad with his experience and ability. At the moment it seems to me like that is exactly the type of thing the Rebels need.

Reds could do 6-8 cover on the bench with Samo probably crocked and past his best. Would be great experience for the young backrowers in the team.

Honestly, Rebels need him the most and should do whatever they can to get him.

Yes from memory that's the extact reason he left Australia in the first place.

I think we'd probably be/feel a bit wasted at the brumbies. Pocock plays 70minutes a game.

Does anyone know when he is required back in Japan? Would be bloody close to Super Rugby finals time. I cant see a serious title contender taking on a guy they would lose a few weeks out from the end.
