The ghosts of a few years ago when Penrith and Parra touched up Randwick at home should be motivation enough over the next few weeks. The club, playing wise, is in a much better place now but the lessons of those losses should still be enough for the players like Tim Wright to pass onto the new breed to ensure complacency doesn't creep in.
Interesting to know if Baldwin is paying the price for the indiscretions and whistle blowing from the ref against Norths early on

They should keep each other very sharp.
TC on the ball harder than Baldwin but Baldwin harder to get past than TC
Two slightly different styles i think.
Where will Munro go when he returns. Prefer to see him as a flanker 6 than anything else.
8, though he did some good pilfers last week, needs to step up a bit imo.
I think that Munro is a better 6 option then Bennett, offers a bit more in attack with a similar work rate and defence.
8 Figg has lead the side well and cant see him being usurped.
Baldwin and TC can both be a little hot and cold but on the back of TC performance in 2s last week he had to go up. Promising that the 1sts coaching staff have eyes on the reserve fixture.

A miserable day where even the gulls had taken shelter and the ball was more slippery than a member of parliament.
If you get to the ground early enough, you will see the how the 3 o clock game is going to be played. Throughout the morning and afternoon the understudies play in the same style.
Gordon were ferocious at the breakdown and ensured that they came away on top in that area. They were opportunistic in every area and played with great passion. They thoroughly deserve their win in first grade, which was built on outstanding defence, and were helped enormously by the Wicks ill discipline in that game.
It seemed to me that Wicks lacked a bit of the smarts and at times were disjointed. Easy to be critical , but on a day when even the ref had trouble seeing through the rain, there were easy kicks at goal that should have been taken and harder ones that should not have.
The wicks first grade players would do well to get to the grounds a little earlier. Any way more experience , which they seemed to lack on the day.

see two post above, wasnt at the game but by all accounts the Highlanders rallied and showed some great passion. Good luck to them. Randwick has not been good at all in the wet the last two years. With out giving to much away i think its a fundamental flaw in there structure

IMO Randwick are a middle of the table team at best ,& as such there are no gimmes for them this year.
There would seem to be a gap between the top 3 teams with Warringah likely to be the fourth forming a bridge between them
& the others although they are likely to lose a few which you might expect them to win on current form..We all know it's early days but there's plenty to suggest that's how it will finish up.

I think the decision by Gordon to pick a second rower at 6 helped them.
Randwick's pack lacks size and physicality in my opinion. They will try run teams off their feet when dry but in these types of games may struggle.

I believe you are right.
Wicks may get a bit more at 6 from Munro who was given the last twenty in seconds which he managed to shorten to 10 almost immediately.
The young wicks second rower had a valiant debut but is a year or so away from being a 'presence'. Not his type of day.
Jesse Harris , who played the last three years in Colts 1 , before becoming unfashionable, made good ground all day in two's. This was his sort of day and he should have been given a shot.
Long gone are the days the Wicks could win with 30% of the ball.

definately agree we are mid table tem and not up there with the likes of Manly,Uni, Eastwood. But geez I think there was equally some reason to be confident coming into the Gordon fixture on the back of two wins with Gordon missing so many players and having lost by over 60 the week before. Think you are using the benefit of hindsight in your review. There wasnt much talk from you pre game.

Yep, couldn't agree more.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the Gordon coaching staff gave a simple instruction to his players before the game: "Tackle, tackle, tackle and Randwick will not have a plan B in the wet."
We passed up very kickable shots at goal and then took a kick from 40 metres out into the driving rain and wind -- it missed.
Neither side looked like scoring tries other than from driving mauls close to the try line, but with the slippery conditions neither side had the organisation or patience to score.
Agree Munro needs to come back to 1sts when fit and play at 6. The Bennett / Connor combination on the side lacks size -- only room for one of them. Figg is OK at 8 but also lacks size.
The backline needs a straight runner at 12.
Horwitz struggles in the wet and kept throwing long cut out speculators which often missed their target and just gave the defence extra time.
Very ordinary performance from team and temporary coach.
Without wanting to take anything away from Gordon this had to have been one of the most boring games of rugby I've seen (I'll just spit out the sour grapes!).
