Is it also because 7s generally because of their position are front and centre more often, so we plebs tend to value them maybe higher than we should. I really think we underestimate how much work tighties do, and we also mark our players on what we see on TV often, which is not really a great judge.
Also loose forward is actually generally positions that can be interchanged, so it is not quite as important to pay big money for one of those positions. And I not sure they as important as we sometimes think, and money being paid tend to show what coaches etc who actually have decide how to win, think the most value is.
Although in saying that I am in full agreement how good Hooper is.
