Barnes? Goog question. I thought he sucked, and when he was announced MOM at the ground, there was significant booing. Any other views?

He sucked, almost as much as in his previous few games.

Surely this was a political decision, to get the press off his back. Who decides MOM, anyway?

I thought Barnes was very good. Over-used the grubber kick a bit, but some of them were very effective. He and Horne look like a good combination. Horne runs good lines and gives Barnes plenty of options.

This is a tricky week, as none of the forwards stood out in the way they did in previous weeks - but they did enough to get loads of quality ball to the backs. The front row are out despite loads of good work around the park (including a Robinson and a Baxter try), because the scrum was shaky (and I'm not prepared to blame the ref completely).
The biggest improvement was in the backs with Beale chiming in with lots of variation, Horne (and Mitchell) hitting the line hard and looking dangerous, and Barnes is starting to get it together a bit (credit to Hickey for giving him the game against the Cheetahs to sort out his crap). Halangahu was solid as ever, and it is a good thing he can be relied upon.

3. Mumm (always a willing worker, strong in the lineout, and stepped up again as a leader - there will be life after Waugh)
2. Beale (I loved the way he gives flair and unpredictability to the backline. I hate his stupid bunny hop)
1. Horne (Attack and defence full oif pace and agression)

I have broken my 'no more than one position for a back' rule, but the improved attack needs to be aknowledged. If i could I'd say three points to the forwards but that isn't how it works.
