Naza; gees Burgess did well being responsible for the cleanout and ball security of those upteen phases. So that's why Genia struggled, not being able to clean out, secure ball, AND fire aimless passes to isolated men. Burgess for president!

Finally, a concession that Genia struggled. What strikes me as a major limitation in the Wallaby attack is their inability to turn it on, ie: really amp up the pace & intensity when a try is in the offing. Genia's first 3-4 games were terrific. Lately he's making too many simple errors and hasn't shown the ability to read play and control the attacking tempo.

Is it a co-incidence the Queenslanders (HGs, Ash, Noddy) are out in force to protect one of their own ?

Gits would be lauded as a hero if he actually had guys outside who had any clue about running angles. He had the Scotch defence shitting themselves everytime the ball was in his hands and then either one of the 2 idiots outside him would would run a switch back towards the Scottish defence or run a short ball stright into the defenders whom Gits had just sucked in.

Whilst I don't think Burgess deserved points, nor do I think he deserves the criticism directed at him on this site. Burgess sensed the urgency when he came on and was desperate to try things to pull something out of the bag. Contrast this with, for example, Giteau who was supposed to be directing traffic around the park. Perhaps the fact that no one else was taking control made Burgess even more anxious. Certainly if he'd come on against Ireland in the 1991 RWC, Noddy would have told him to relax and that it was under control. Do you think Gits said that to him? Or Cooper or Elsom? If they had said it, would he have had any reason to believe them?

I think Deans knows Burgess isnt the best or perhaps even 2nd best halfback in Australia. However I think Deans would like to have 22 players with Burgess' urgency, passion and desperation. An image that has stayed with me is Burgess' celebrations after the last try against England. He, of all the players on the field and the bench and of the crowd, celebrated the most.

Which is perhaps his strongest point (enthusiasm) and weakest (lack of calm) all in one.

Burgess is probably playing his last few matches for OZ IMO. I don't expect him to be selected next year. Deans will hopefully look to develop someone with potential.

I dont think its Burgess' last game for the wallabies. If he has a good S14 season he'll be back, hopefully competing for a starting stop with genia. He does have a great attitude n lots of strong aspects in his game, All he really has to do is learn how to pass. Cant be that hard right ?
