G&GR + PlayUp experiment - we need you

Hey all,

Over time we've tried a few different ways of making the live rugby watching experience more fun with G&GR - whether that be cover it live on the blog, the shout box here, or just smashing the game thread.

Well there's this new outfit we're going to give a go - PlayUP. They're originally Australian and are now going global.

Basically they're a slick app to use on your iPhone, iPad or Android (OR website for your PC/laptop) in which they create chat rooms in which the live score is shown at the same time. The difference to twitter or something else is that we can create a private or open room for GAGR specifically. They are also talking about providing the odd pro player or coach to come along and join in with us.

We want to give this a burl this weekend with the Brumbies vs Tahs match and would like as many of you to join in as is possible. It's free - there's nothing to lose.

I'd say ~90% of HTC smartphones are running android. Search for it in the Play Store and you should be right.

I haven't tried the app (and although it says there is an Android version on the website, I couldn't find it on the Android Market Place).

I believe you can't currently use the app for betting in Australia but can overseas. Certainly in the UK, I believe it works on a micro betting idea where you can basically bet a pound at a time on a certain outcome.

Whilst it is an Australian company, they don't currently have a license to operate a gambling operation in Australia although they do in many countries overseas (particularly the UK and India).

One of my clients holds a reasonable stake in the company.

Use Firefox on the computer. Works perfectly but very hard to use while in the toilet unless it is the laptop.
