Hugh Bladin knows his stuff but he has the personallity of a mop. This is counter productive when trying to stay awake watching matches played in the republic. I like Bob Skinstat as he is level headed and always positive. What happened to the Brossman? He was good.
Yeah it was good as a Saffer last year to get the SA perspective with Warren Brosnihan and Bladen gettign five minutes in each show.

I guess now with Jeremy Paul's big head filling the whole studio there's fuck all all room for ideas.

For someone with little knowledge of the dark arts, I like Kearns for his scrum talk. Kafe is obviously the goods -- I love that the players respect him a lot and often give solid answers, not bullshit, when he asks questions.

My biggest problem is how much -- at least during the S14 season -- the commentators talked the game down. Rugby has an audience problem as it is, do we really need commentators telling the viewers that the game they are watching is awful (even if it is)?

Listen to an AFL broadcast. Even if the game is a bit ho hum, the commentators always try to keep the excitement levels "up". If the game is a blow out, they focus on individual effort.

I reckon Burger owes Kearnsy a beer. If Kearns hadn't immediately proclaimed there to be "nothing in it" re the possible gouge I reckon a lot more would've been made of it, resulting in a lengthy lay-off for Burger. As it was he nipped it in the bud before the other commentators could build up any real indignation.

whilst i do enjoy there commentary, i dont think they are very good commentators for the game, it seems as though regular rugby views enjoy there commentary but to the irregular viewers a lot of what they say doesnt make sense.

I suppose with more Super15 games next year and a lot more possible conflictions with timings within australian game it might open the door for a couple of new commentators to test there value.

Anyone remember Canno and Kafe's routine for the BaaBaas V england II match? sure it wasnt "commentating" as such, but it kept me awake and sober the whole time.

I actually really enjoyed that. It was two blokes propping up a bar (figuratively speaking) talking BS while the footy's on.

Hopefully not like some games last year when they used the Fairfax bloke from FS News. Jaysus he was like an error machine.

I actually like Kearns, just because he doesn't get overly excited by nothing like Marto does. Kafe because he actually tells me stuff I don't know. I can never remember his name, but the very calm sounding NZ play by play commentator is my favorite. I can't stand any of the SA announcers except Joel Stransky, who I haven't heard in a while. Skinstad's whining about the ref was a bit much for me last time I heard him.

Marto should be the first to go. I had to mute the television for some of the Reds games this year because he was so painful to listen to. Everytime the Reds made a linebreak it sounded like he was having an orgasm.

You weren't? Hell's Donkey's, after all the previous years of pain, the Reds this year had me so excited that it was a very good year for Mrs daz too.......

The differnce between you, me and every other loyal Reds fan compared to Marto was we supported them all the way through. I swear he is all shit and no substance. When the Reds were down and the Tahs were up, I swear he was a closet Tahs fan.

Nisbo is a useless moron, Marshall struggles to match speech with thought but when he does it's pretty accurate and useful. Smith is a fat drunk wicket keeper. Ian Jones is great but has a speeth impedimenth. Mex is a nutjob.

Kearns is good when he talks about what's happening and not what he thinks should happen. Kafer is on to it. The rest of the Aussies are cheesy twats. I mute them if faced with no choice.

The Saffa's accents are usually quite droning I find (The irony! says half of Australia...). I can handle them though, they know their shit.

Are you Kearns mum or something? To think some retired hooker with a comedy routine that has a little bit of commentary throughout has such power and influence over incidents in a game, is hilarious.

I think Tune was pretty decent when he commentated during the RC.
Also on a side note, as much as i like watching his analysis on the rugby club, my girlfriend pointed out on wednesday that his suit is superrrrrr tight. It looks pretty funny..
