Now that it has been revealed that RSA has been fielding an ineligible player, will it be required to forfeit the games in which he took part?

If he had SA parents or grandparents then he was eligible? <edit> Or had lived there more than a few years? I've seen absolutely so reference so far that says he was ineligible.

Either way, there's no chance of retrospective forfeits, I'd say.

Biffo you're full of shit as ever.

There are no legal grounds in the IRB or SA that he cannot play.

What they can do is refuse him a passport and revoke his work permit and from that point onwards he will be ineligible.

And to be honest: who gives a fuck?

What kind of meddling is the SA sports ministry into anyway? No-one gives a shit if Zimbabwe has a rugby team and with Mad Bob Mugabe in charge its a moot point.

I am adopting a new mantra:

The iRB is running the show, not the wacky SA Govt...

As mentioned by Ash, under the iRB regulations, you're allowed to represent a foreign country if you have parents or grandparents who were born in that said country OR under the residency rule, if you have lived in said country for 3 or more years, then you're ELIGIBLE to play for that country.

What the SA Govt is querying is Beast's citizenship, which should have no bearings on his eligibilty to play for the Boks because last I checked, he is definitely eligible (I hope I'm right).
It's the Govt's prerogative to award him a SA passport or not...but not to question his eligibilty.
