Far out guys. It was a Wednesday night, and people just wanted to watch the B&I Lions. No one I saw walked away from the game complaining. And it's not like anyone besides Lions fans sacrificed anything to be there. Move on.

I just watched the top 14 final. Talk about a ref I could hate. deleted - we can do without the homophobic comments - thanks FP

its not the names of the players that count guys
its more the fact that they have played together week in week out all season> knowing they can trust the man next to them in the defensive line because theyve done the job against the reds and the crusaders etc,
this is the point ive been trying to get across> a smaller well organised defense can overcome a larger disorganized attack.
however you break one link in the chain and the chain loses all its strength
the force had a chance because they could have fielded an established well organised defensive line and the lions should have had their attack pressured. think of almost every upset victory that comes to mind and im sure you'll agree more often than not upsets occour because of defensive pressure and the losers walk away saying they "wernt allowed to play their game"

Agree about the point you made regarding the players who've played together and are are familiar with the defensive patterns.

Foley ought to have had some debutants, if any, in both the forward pack and in the backs. Instead we had CTM, Corey Brown, DHP etc. who've not played once this year, let alone together, starting against a test team.

But it's all done and dusted and this thread is about the Force-Tahs match, so will say I hope the guys rested put in a good performance and beat the Tahs!

forgive me ive been busy today

heath tessman, pek cowan, wykes, alcock, mathewson, eberson, godwin and probably rasolea could have strengthened the team
dont know about mmm as im not sure of his injury- but if godwin was pissed he didnt play im sure his injury wasnt as bad as made out
no point in going round in circles, ive made my point
i say by not trying to win the game he has wronged every stakeholder, disagree if u must but its over now anyway
The Force scrum was equal to the task why would go picking Cowan (who has struggled in tests) or Tessman when the scrum was fine??
Apart from a rumour Godwin was unhappy at not being picked I expect the squad knew for some time what the relative significance of that game and the one this thread is actually concerned with was.
Foley would be pilloried if he lost 68-18 and then also lost to the Tahs! No doubt he will be pilloried if he loses to the Tahs anyway!

i think everyone who has been bleating like Lambs for the past week about everything Foley and the Force do, are going to be very surprised at what a cracker of a game we see this evening. As a Tahs Fan, I am officially nervous - (the Force are a difficult team, even when nobody is paying any attention to them).

(All the B&I bleating reminds me of Wiggins at the recent Olympics complaining about the australians not helping him to win)... ??!

Eeish, mccutcheon out, so aj Gilbert to start. Tom carter is captain!

That's just about the ball game. Alcock will have a field day because we have no on-ball ruck specialist. If the Force don't win this one they'll want to die of shame.

It will be great to see McMeniman back playing again.

It's a pity that MCutcheon was injured. He is a natural captain and would have done a good job as skipper of the Tahs. Carter will be OK as the leader: he's bossy enough at training.

By my reckoning the Tahs are missing 17 of their 30 contracted players: ten to the Wobs and seven to injury - and I guess you could count Fitzpatrick as another one as I don't think he would be ready to play Super Rugby.

This game doesn't matter as much to the Tahs as it would if they were still in contention, but I would have liked there to be fewer injured players so that they could make a good showing against the Lions next week.

Good luck to AJ Gilbert who starts instead of Cutch and other Sydney club players: Richard Aho, Adam Coleman, Liam Winton and Terrence Hepetema, who will be on the bench.

The Tahs will have a bit of a struggle in the scrums with four forwards starting for the Tahs for the first time and another with a CV of one run-on game.

Let's see how they go.
