I'm guessing they hold off until the captains run, just in case of any unforeseen injuries etc...

I'd doubt that's the reason. If you've ever seen a captains run you'd know you'd be pretty stiff to get injured. Regardless, players get injured in team warm ups & there are late changes to starting line ups all the time. All the NRL teams are in Wednesday's press. I realise some other Super Rugby teams leave their team announcements late but it just seems a bit odd to me.

I'm not too fussed about when they announce it, provided they're consistent with timing.

5pm Thursday seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I remember cursing Michael Foley when he was at the Tahs - he regularly held off until after the fantasy deadline.

This game is all about gaining respect, imposing your will to win and putting your body on the line. Simple. Both teams want it.....whose willing to pay the price?

Force team to take on the Rebels. Good to see Adam Coleman back. Luke Morahan out with a hamstring....hope its just a tweak. Mitch Scott back in the squad for some pace on the wing. Go you Force!

Tom Sexton into the squad. Steve Cummings as well, what did Neville do to TT that he is so far down the pecking order.

Fugistaller given the start also, needs to step up as a Co-Captain now.

Last year he made changes at the drop of a hat, this year he won't change at all. English has to be on thin, thin, ice.

Fuglistaller over Colby makes me think McGahan is planning for a proper tough bastard game. You lose Colby's linking ability, but if we're getting down into a scrap Fuglistaller is probably the better pick.

Despite my bullishness in the review, I actually think Rebels will win this.

The combination required for the Force to win is finely balanced machine. Our two best players last year were Hodgson and Hayward. I'm sceptical that we can overcome another team who is basically copying our "formula for success with limited talent", who don't have the injury concerns we have and actually gained a quality back for this season (Harris) as opposed to losing one.

Godwin has been average to poor. He nearly ruined Honey Badgers try last week by failing to draw a man and shovelling it on to Badge to beat a 3 on 1. There are few wingers in The comp who could have finished that try on the weekend.

In a positive note, last week showed we can play with the heart and attitude we need and it came from the depths of our squad, which bodes well. Now we just need the cattle on the park to finish the job.

Serious question; is Godwin really that good? He's been roundly anointed by members of this forum as the greatest thing since sliced bread but I'm yet to see him set the world on fire.

Over hyped?

He was excellent in 2013 but he wasn't as good in 2014 (despite the Force being much better) and we haven't seen anything at all in 2015 with him playing 13 to suggest he'll be in contention for the Wallabies this year.

Godwin was very good in 2013 playing at 12 where he should be now. In 2014 he was injured in the game against the Cheetahs when he was tackled after the siren kicking the ball out and fell awkwardly. He missed the remaining 6 games and the EOY tour. Knee injuries are always tough to come back from and often it is the following season before they get back up to their best. He is still only 23 so plenty of time to develop. He has good skills, footwork and vision which can't be taught and currently it's not helping that he's being played at 13.

Yeah it struck me as a strange choice to play him at 13. I'll admit that I haven't spent hours watching his tapes, but I thought he looked good receiving the ball from the breakdown and playing close to the line.

As an aside his physique isn't that of a 'typical' contemporary 13. The tendency is for blockbusting runners rather than blokes with finesse.

Man, as much as I love beating other Aus provinces, at heart I'm invested in the health of the game and want all players to do well. Except Tom Carter - he can get farked ;)

The Force have previously done well with Godwin at 12 and Rasolea at 13. Brache has also done well playing 13 in tandem with Godwin at 12. Why they have changed it this year I don't know.

The old saying.....if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I can actually see what they were thinking. It'll be a similar thing to how Dwyer keeps talking about wanting to see at 13.

From what I've seen Godwin's great assest on attack is his ability to stand defenders up, slide through the small gaps he opens up and then to keep his arms free and look for offloads. You will almost always get more room at 13 than 12, so it stands to reason that if Godwin can exploit small amounts of space then he should be able to do even more if he's given more room. Pair that with a big, blockbusting, 12 to get defenders cheating inside and you basically have the Nonu-Smith combo that's been domination for the last decade. Obviously it hasn't worked, but I can understand the thinking behind it. Wouldn't be surprised if Cheika had asked Foley to try it out to be honest.

He was good in his first full year in 2013, but injury and teams working him out has curtailed his consistency.

I'm not sure that he is in the top 5 for 12s currently - maybe for 13s but that is a stretch.

I don't recall him being lauded as God's gift to Australian rugby by any members of the forum, but maybe you could get that impression from how some of the media pundits talk him up like it's still 2013.
