Agreed, RN.

Kagifa Samoa
  • Coach (I think) is Darryl Suasua ... Head Coach @ Counties Manakau, previously Black Ferns … + also Manu Samoa (Asst coach).
  • As well some Samoan-based players, there are a couple of Aus-Samoans in there with Ah-mu and David Feliuai Lene.
  • Training out of NZ so obviously a fair few Enzedders / PIs based in NZ.
  • Five Fijians. And there are five players carrying on in Rapid Rugby with this Kagifa team from the APDs, including four Tongans: Fosita, Fukofuka, Hala and Lokotui.
Fijian Latui
  • Squad is similar to the Drua who won the aussie "toast track" in the NRC 6 months ago.
  • All Fijian-based players. Coach is Senirusi Seruvakula (Fiji Warriors and Drua).
  • Favoured at home, I reckon.
Some re-posting in what I've put here, but IMO adds info for the match

Lam took advantage of the 15-on-13 and went over from short range for Kagifa

19 - 12 after 28 mins

Then Franki Malu got over the line for Kagifa ... but it's a TMO call of a knock on in a high-ish tackle

back to 15 on 15 now

It is physical encounter out there.

Maloney's bitching overlooks the fact you see dozens of those tackles go not penalized in every game. Malu went into the contact low and the Fijian tackler did what pretty much every professional Rugby players does in a similar position.

Good first half of open rugby including a 9-pointer to Fiji.

Great to be able to watch it live streamed in Johannesburg on GRR website.

Agreed. Technically above the shoulder but you wouldn't say with massive menace

Still say the Fijians a bit lax on discipline, tho.

Good hard half of footy.

Excellent opening game for the Pacific Showcase under the new GRR rules..

The Samoan side has had only limited time together but did very well against a typically explosive Fiji team.
