Fijian Drua 2022

That’s a shame Adam. Hopefully it might turn out okay in the longer run. These guys will get to Australia then, invariably, there will be a mixed level of success. Some of these guys might be ripe for transferring back to the Drua in 1-2 years.

I hope so anyway. That is a better outcome then losing them altogether.
Or transferring to oz rugby side in getting some residency time locked in

i have been told the bulk of the Drua wil jet into australia next month and set up camp and will be there till super rugby 2022 ends..
I think it is initially for a 1 month camp. I would suggest that after the 80% double vax point, they will be free to fly back to Fiji and Return after a Christmas break.

Hate it when nrl poach rugby talent - yep timely for sure
I get what you are saying. But at the end of the day there are a lot of Fijians who are getting a better life for themselves and their families through league. It would be wonderful if we could give all of them the opportunity - but we can’t.

Yep agree - just like rugby to get more of them - which now with drua and MP (Moana Pasifika) is a start.
As case in point is Fiji players signed by NQ nrl team were players stated likely to get drua contracts.

Rugby has not traditionally done well in this part of the world for the war for talent as nrl salaries generally higher (but of course Japan and Europe have no such problems)

Interesting choice of mick Byrne for drua - going to need some quality assistants
Yep, I thought it was quite interesting, and thought I had read that a Fijian coach was pretty close to getting job. Still Byrne has been in some good coaching set ups , so he should of picked up something.

I would have the Drua play their home matched vs Oz Super Rugby games at the away venue. They could possibly bank way more in revenue by getting the away crowd to fill stands. Compare match attendance in Brisbane with Drua vs Tahs.... it'd be hardcore fans only, but Drua vs Tahs at say Parramatta stadium would possibly fill the joint!! Much more $$ where it's needed. Same goes for Rebels, Force and Brumbies...
