A few of our better players did not make the main 23 including one of our best local fullbacks, Meli Nakarawa (Leone's younger brother), flyhalf Veitokani who is like a younger version of dan carter for fiji..strong team named though..that fullback is pretty nippy, they should mark him well..

Maybe because they did not have passports? My neighbour, who is Fijian, told me that it can take a long while to get a passport.

Both those players mentioned above have been in the Fiji Warriors side. Toured to Uruguay.

They should have marked that fullback lol :p shame he is out for the year..we could have used him for the November tests.

Few concerns for Fiji with the Vikings hooker making strong claims he was eye gouged this evening in the first half. Be interesting to see how it plays out..

The Canberra Times is reporting that two Drua players are facing minimum 12 week suspensions over this eye gouging claim. I'm confused. If two players both gouged in the same tackle that couldn't possibly be coincidence and suggests it was a pre-planned perhaps? There doesn't appear to be any video evidence of the incident yet two players have been cited.

Not doubting Fa'anger's claims in any way and eye gouging is an abhorrent act that needs to be treated harshly but confused about how two players are involved.

They must've had some evidence........

Two Fijian Drua players could face 12 weeks on the sideline after they were cited following an eye-gouging accusation from Canberra Vikings hooker Folau Fainga'a on Friday night.

Eroni Vasiteri and Apisalome Waqatabu will face the National Rugby Union judiciary after the duo were cited for making contact with a Fainga'a's eyes in the round five clash.

How what do you think it happened? One bloke decides to go the eye gouge and his mate decides it looks fun and joins in or it's a pre-planned thing?

From the TV coverage you couldn't really tell which player it was at the ruck so I'd suggest only one player offended but two were cited.

It has been mentioned elsewhere that there were apparently two seperate incidents, hence then two citings

So I reckon that is about a dozen returning guys from last year, plus Albert Tuisue who played for the Rams last year.

Key returnees are Moses Voka (backrow), Peni Raidre (No 8), Ratu Navumu (hooker) and Frank Lomani (scrumhalf) all of whom I thought were excellent last year. Prop Veitayaki, lock/backrower Seru, fullback Waqatabu and centre Reece all key squaddies too.

Really missing centres skipper John Stewart and Eroni Sau, wing Apeta Daveta and the mecurial Peceli Nacebe but still a bloody strong squad.

I am not sure people realise that this time round Fiji players playing in nrc have more to play for as they could be playing for a contract to join the Fiji pro side anticipated to be part of wsr next year!

There is probably only be a handful of spots remaining in the top squad with the majority coming from France & UK. Forwards in particular may find a spot with a big NRC campaign

yeah its the same Daveta, i think another big name we lost apart from Nacebe and Sau is flanker Samu Saqiwa, iwas shocked he along with Voka didn't secure atleast a short-term super rugby contract with an aussie side, only 2 made it (Kali Tawake, 2 games for Waratahs and Frank Lomani, named in the extended squad for Rebels)

Lomani put in another very impressive game at No 9. Must have about the best long pass of any No 9s going round. A worthy MOTM performance v the Rising.
