Speaking of French players...how about that blonde haired breakaway and inspirational captain Jean Paul Rives?

One Oz equivalent of him would be Poido or Ray Price...

Started watching rugby in 2003 so unfortunately I cant pick Rupeni and Cullen because I didn't see them at their peak.

1. James O'Connor - Saw his first ever match v the reds, watched the sevens in 08 and he tore up. Favorite player at the moment

2. Brian O'Driscoll - from the 2003 world cup the guy was my idol, great player and the amount of crucial line breaks he made is ridiculous

3. Tatafu Polata Nau - The most dynamic, cannon-ball like and committed player I have seen. The tackles he makes are awesome, the ones on FDP are of particular excellence.

4. David Pocock - the most valuable player for his team this year, that tackle on Bryan Habana where he chased him down in desperation will love long in the memory

And for some reason Nonu, I'm suspecting it's a dreadlock thing I've got going here.

Still remember my jaw dropping at a back handed flick pass from Zinzan that spiralled and flew about 30m across field and led to a NZ try. Was only 5m or so out from the tryline though when he did it (if my hazy memory is right).

Also had a major soft spot for Oliver Magne, loved it when he played with a young Betsen on each side of the French scrum. Magne was one of the best (if not the best) linkmen for a long long time. Oh, and Sella.

Richard Hill, if not the best modern blindside, would have to be close to it.

Had a soft spot for Kees Meuws. No idea why. Liked Hayman too, plus Lomu and Cullen, and Umaga as he progressed from wing, to centre, to inside centre.

From Australia, loved Eales (who was an athletic freak, despite looking a little soft), Horan, then Larkham too. Had a soft spot for David Wilson - he may not have quite been on Kronfeld's level, but he gave everything and was our first fetcher that could really influence a match. Late 90s and early 2000s loved watching Latham for the Reds, and was happy when he transferred it finally to the Wobs. Then came Mortlock as well.

Used to get a kick out of watching the "hair bears" playing for Auckland. How long do you think they spent on their perms?

Oh we include oppo players too...? Okay.

All Time; Rory Underwood, got his autograph at Okara Park when the Lions played there and he was a nice guy to a starstruck rugby-head kid. Gavin Hastings. Serge Blanco.
Still Playing; Chabal, Juan Smith, Evil Wizard Mortlock. Richard Brown... (Just for Cyclo ;) )

Add another to my All Time AB list - Sid Going. But more for the "aura" when he signed my Lions programme (he was coaching North Auckland/Northland at the time). You could tell he was a legend just by being around him.

Martin Jagr from the Czech Republic... A classic example of why the top leagues have a responsibility to allow foreigners to play.
