And while we're here, it looks like the chosen coach needs to be approved by the NSW Rugby Media - maybe it's worth having Georgie Robinson on the selection panel? Maybe Matt Bourke?
They both represent a significant amount of credibility. Matt could be on the selection panel given he's "got the playing background required to talk about it" and Georgie could run the background qualification checks given her gifts in that area that have come to light.

People are still talking about the shit around Ewen's personal life, but I honestly reckon that is just none of anyone's fucking business and ultimately feels like a shit excuse for losing a coach that deserved his shot.
All this crap about Patston if anything should be on Pulver for cutting the team's budget to the fucking bone so people's roles started to bleed into other territories. Deciding a team manager wasn't necessary was pretty fucking stupid, for instance.

There is a need to start a massive rebuilding campaign.
The AFL is the paragon of professional sport in this country. Get in touch with Port Adelaide about their culture. Speak to the GM at Geelong - Brian Cook - the country's best administrator. Or the Eagles, who rebuilt a club after a massive drug problem.
Form a strategy that will last for the long term.
We have been dudded as supporters by the people in the game at the highest levels - players included - who have busily papered over the cracks.

It's been very obvious he is unimpressed with the treatment of Patston. If the players have lost his respect which is a strong possibility given what some have said recently thwn that may be reason enough to resign. I don't buy the he lost the group message, few bad eggs spoils it for everyone. Hooper is in no way ready to lead and seems very easily swayed by those around him.

1. He didn't live up to his end of the bargain and lost the respect of the squad. This could be fair enough and there is still hope this squad can be salvaged.
2. The squad is such a pack of spoilt fluffybunnys he has given up any hope of being able to turn it around.
3. The media pressure really did get to him. I thought he was tougher than that but seemingly more likely by the minute.

There's a very limited pool of people capable of coaching a Tier 1 national rugby team. The pool shrinks even further if we want an Aussie in the job.
Whoever it is needs to have the gravitas and personality to stamp their authority on the team. They need the players respect (not their approval).

Bob Dwyer and Rod McQueen have the gravitas - not sure if either would want it at this stage of their lives.

I'm genuinely sorry that he has gone and I feel sorry for him on both a personal and professional level. While he may not have got everything right, I think he's been treated poorly in all of this.

I just feel empty now. Pulver has stated rugby has lost a good man and I more than agree. There are some fucking horrible grubs in this country and I'm embarrassed to be Australian today. This is not over and the backlash will be immense once people get over the shock.
