Ewen McKenzie Resignation

Ashley Cooper is not very intelligent. He has no place in a leadership group and neither does a 22 year old. Possibly hard or the coach to control who winds up in the players' cartel of influence but he can sure as shit control who is captain, an hooper has been a mistake.

Blaming the kick is an absurdity. The malaise set in with more than 15 to go and there were several moments equal to the kick in terms of losing the game. It was a crap kick at the worst possible moment, but it wasn't the be all and end all.

So, did Link instruct him to do it, or FAIL to put in place and end game plan that excluded it?

The buck stops somewhere.

What a class act Ewen McKenzie is. Resigned to the CEO, did not tell the players or other staff until after the game. Came and took a 5 minute press conference on the game and what went right and wrong and then announced his resignation. No dummy spit. No taking his batt and ball and going home. No telling the players and ask them to "win one for the Gipper". Just class. Something which is sadly lacking in certain areas of the "dressing room" and the media. He's had the balls and class the stand and confront everything thrown at him and which journalist has named their "source" or backed any of the rumours with fact? Cowards without the courage to do anything but mope about in the shadows. What a disgrace

From Pulver
In essence Ewen said that he felt he was going to struggle to retain the level of respect from the playing group that he needed and his support staff in the Australian squad — really, in my part, because of the extraordinary character assassination that he has had to put up with over the past two weeks.
“I’m pretty disappointed with the Australian public in certain areas for how they’ve dealt with Ewen, and in fact how they’ve dealt with Di Patston. If I read one more article criticising those two … it would be extremely disappointing.”
Asked to clarify what he meant by “the Australian public”, Pulver replied: “I think I’m talking about the media primarily. What I’ve seen over the last two weeks of character assassination of Ewen McKenzie and all the commentary around Di Patston, I think has been extremely disappointing.
“Unfounded, unwanted and unfair, is how I would describe it and completely contrary to the core values of our game.”

And what the fuck did Pulver do to stand behind his coach? Man up Bill, it is your fucking shop at the end of the day.

It may be unpopular to say this and some will consider it distasteful.

But I (and only I) speculate that AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is heavily complicit in this. We all bought the babe in the woods line when he was the players rep and friend got the shaft but now he's been a senior player coming out in support of another player that has erred. Did anybody see the pics of the team photo? Link seemed to be the only bloke that wasn't laughing there.

I actually hate to agree. Even a tweet from Drew Mitchell kind of got my blood boiling. Even in such a sad circumstance, it has to be about the players. Personally if it was me with 100 caps, I wouldn't condone comments like that. I'd tell Drew to delete it. Difficult situation I know and the situation obviously takes away the shine of the achievement, but don't get shitty about it

Agree with this whole-heartedly! But once Stephen Moore went down earlier this year, who were the other candidates?

Anyone blaming Pulver needs their head checked. Pulvar hasn't walked away from his job or played KB (Kurtley Beale) at 10.

Yeah I checked my head and I blame Pulver.

Why was Beale played at 10. Pressure from above regarding a petty desire to retain a demanding high profile player from a CEO desperate to raise the profile of the code. It really is the only explanation that could explain the inconsistency of the selection.

Pulver seems very happy for somebody else to take the fall for the mess that has happened in his house.

I checked my head again and I still blame fucking Pulver.

I don't. These problems precede Pulver. Probably even pretend JON's last term in fact.

Just removed my wallaby logo from my profile. Felt good... I was down and out when deans was around, got the love back when Link arrived and now, fucken over it.

Feel for ACC though.... Poor bugger...

I'd be very surprised if ashley cooper WASNT a negative influence.

He is good friends with those dickheads in France, who, as much as some of you miss them, embody the player-power problem as much as anyone on the current roster.
I hate to say it but those guys got it from the Brumbies greats.. Difference is Brumbies greats won the title in that year.. 2011 was the other attempt.

If the players want to take the power they better win..
