Anybody wanting to blame the ARU for the length of the Beale investigation is off target.

They're hands have been tied due to RUPA after what happened in Dublin and everybody complaining of link handling it like a dictator. Now the same people want swift justice.

If you are suggesting that Link just coached the Reds,and said nothing or did nothing to enhance his chances of usurping RD you are totally wrong.
Not even making a judgement call of whether that is ok or not,just saying what goes around,comes around.

If anyone has a different view on a Link leaving than RD leaving,it is only due to their perceptions of each individual is different.

You can't say RD had to go because one player said the joint was toxic,and then say it's a disgrace that player power cost Link his job.

That's a good question and I really don't know. Jones was a disaster at the reds and would surely be a step backward though.

Is somebody like Phil Mooney a horrible idea? I'm sure he'd have learnt a lot from his time at the Reds and may be a decent 1 year appointment.

Nah RD had to go because he had run his course. After 2011 the team was going nowhere. We accepted things like 42% winning rate in 2009 and losses to the all blacks on the basis we were building to the World Cup. It didn't pan out.

I'm saying wasn't link hired because of his results? Not any media campaigning from him or anybody else.

This part has been missed by a significant portion commenting. The systems in place must be particularly poor for a loss of confidence from them. Mind you I have always thought that the retention of Scrivener and Blades was Link's first big error. They under-performed with Deans (or at least were not permitted to perform) and the areas of their speciality have been at best inconsistent this year.

That's interesting as I was talking to a couple of ex-GPS schoolboys who went onto to lower rep level, and they no longer watch the game. Both stated the reason being the lack of well executed skills on display.

Last night was brilliant but lets face it, an aberration in terms of skill execution and intent from Australian sides since Eddie Jones took over, certainly post 2003.

One comment that stuck with me was they watched the game and attended religiously in the 70s and 80s when the Wallabies lost even more regularly than today because of the intent and the skill execution on display.

As I said that can't be said for the game last night or a few others this year, but the damage done to the fringe supporters from games like the French second test cannot be understated, and they won that game.

Same fans would have jumped on board if we beat the all blacks and the bokkie like that.

It was looked at poor because we think the French are rubbish..

Agree that none of them were guaranteed starters, but I have to question why: Carter has never really rated above a 6, and neither was Horwill. So why not start someone with captaincy experience if the results of their play isn't going to be that different.

Because he needs the experience before next year's world cup.

Where were all these "good blokes" with quotes supporting McKenzie during the torturous week of media speculation and character assassination we just went through in the lead up to Bledisloe 3?

Maybe the reason some of the old war horses didn't pull these precocious manipulators into line is that they agree with them.
