I would highly doubt it
I dont think the NH competitions have even trialled them yet.

That's an amazingly good question Blue.

Probably not, but the iRB has run the ELVs as an adhocracy, so you never know.

Yes they are playing under a different version called the global elvs. It is different to what we've been watching in the super 14 & tri-nations.

I'm not sure of the changes but I know some rulings are going back to penalties rather than free kicks.

Hmmm. Personally i dont think they should bother if they replace free kicks with penalties. It kind of takes the pace out of the game.
But then again if they still have the gap at the scrums and kicking in the 22m rules then it wont be all bad.

I believe Disco is right - more a NH version of the ELVs with penalties in. To be honest, it may the closest thing to the final version we get - just my gut feel. I reckon the 5m from the scrum, pass into the 22, and lineout things will stay (numbers and quick throws) but not much else.
Anyone going?

Im going to Honkers, Italy, Twickers and possibly the French game.

It is indeed the global ELVs which is what super 14/tri nations had except no free kick and you are allowed to collapse the mauls.

It's the ELVs that the rest of the world voted for and are playing with. You're the splitters running ad hoc versions of your own on this front, gentlemen.

Fog in Torres Strait, rest of world cut off, huh? ::)

The Torres Strait analogy is actually accurate, T. The top 4 sides in the world reside in the southern hemisphere. The more you guys put more leather patches on your blazers, the longer it will stay that way.

Good point Scarfy. The benevolance of we SH rugby types is quite remarkable. Here we are dominating world rugby, in its current form and yet is we, quietly comfortable as the IRB's top 4 teams, offering our NH brethren the chance to try something new. Quite admirable of us, considering their inadequacies under the current domain.

All for the good of the sport mind you. Well done us.

Fixed it for you Thomo.

Well usually the first tour rule is what goes on on tour stays on tour. Then you have drinking fines for acts of gross stupidity or breaking tour rules like not wearing your bright pink shirt and hula dress at all times type of thing.

I believe we were trialling them before you even voted on them. But then of course you already knew that, didn't you!?

Calling them 'global' is sort of like the americans calling their league champions in basketball, baseball etc 'world champions'.

Basically when the IRB talk global they actually mean France & England.

But we all digress. So it's the S14 / 3N ELV's plus what exactly?

The rules played in the Heineken Cup?

The NH unions agreed to trial the short arm sanctions in "an elite competition". Where is this comp?

Are they trialing them in the Heiniken Cup?
If not maybe 6 Nations?

Eh - no, they don't. Certainly all the Argentinians are living here, and aren't playing the SANZAR ELVs. Because no-one else on the planet is playing the S14 variations. Everyone else is playing the IRB 13 that we're using here at the moment. They really are the global ones, and you're all on your own on this one, gentlemen. Even the Boere have said they don't want the SANZAR version for next year, but the standard, same-as-the-rest-of-the-world laws.

There is an NH trial of the free kick ELV. It's in the seconds league for T14 teams. Free-kick-a-go-go is dead, boys; accept it.

Right so that is clearly not an elite comp. So we have the European unions going back on their word. The same people (and their fans)who criticised O'Neill for duplicity. Shower of hypocrites.

Europeans are serious about "seconds league for T14 teams" being an elite competition? Come on, Thomo, pull the other one, it whistles.
