How about debrezceni over Kellaway? he offers more to the wallabies as he can play FH,C or FB rather than kellaway who is FB or W and personally i don't rate atm. Not a knock on him he's a good player but I don't believe he warrants selection.
You must not have watched too much rebels game this year - debreczceni has been not super rugby standard this year let considering higher honours...unfortunately form issues to be addressed

Suppose we will just have to wait to see if Chek cheapens the jersey.

If he gets a jersey on this tour then it has cheapened it for me.

Although I love Chek's spin in diffusing the topic
Bullshit if cheika chooses him to play it will be because in training sessions he has proved worth it. The guy is a super star in league and if believes worthy of match time in position less technical than most re: wing with guy who has union background what does it matter.

We are talking about top class athletes and cheika will only start him if can see not the risk and more likely at best bench option.

Do people really think cheika would play him from the bench if not up to it.

He's looked less and less like a 10 the more adult rugby he has played. He didn't look good there when he played in the under 20s.

He looked pretty reasonable at 10 to my eyes in the under-20's except for his kicking. His place kicking was atrocious and field kicking pretty average.

That about sums it up on Godwin. A bit like Larkham in that sense. Godwin has never been shy of taking the ball to the line, maybe with a good kicker at 12 he could do alright. Would love to trial him against the Barbars.

There are a host of reasons why some players get selected (and others don't), and it's not just what happens on the training park.

People would just prefer a player selected for the Wallabies has done so via the playing field
Semantics as I believe he has already shown what can do this year on the field in league and recent grand final. Some people want to completely discount that. But yes I acknowledge your point that people will have different preferences as to pre conditions to qualify. If he ends up being selected on the bench because cheika believes ready based on what seen in training sessions and he has a good game for the wallabies does that still cheapen his selection or prove perhaps his selection was warranted?

A year ago I would have wholeheartedly agreed, but his work this year has gone backwards.

I believe there is immense talent there, hopefully he finds it again, plays flatter, uses his size to get through the line and stops passing 10m behind the gain line

That's the thing, I'd agree that it would be a horrible look to have run him straight out in to the final Bledisloe (as the dills on 2MMM were saying he should have), that would have looked like pure desperation. Cheika & co will coach him, condition him and fine tune him and release him when they think he is ready, if that happens to be on the tour then so be it. The justification, or not, will be based on his performance in that game initially, but more importantly over the next few games.

To answer your question

Who the fuck knows what Chek will ever do but my point still stands

Phil Kearns didn't cheapen the jersey being picked from Randwick reserve grade, but others with 50 super rugby caps have been the pants

Different era..
At the time Super Rugby didn't exist, Randwick were SS champions and Kearns was been kept out of first grade by Eddie Jones..

By allowing a rugby league winger to walk straight into the Wallabies it perpetuates this argument that rugby league is the vastly superior product and devalues the Wallaby brand IMO.

At least Rogers, Sailor and Tuqiri all played Super Rugby before been called up for the Wallabies.

The benefit of Godwin is that he play flat, something many in the current set up struggle to do. Godwin and To'omua would be the two best at staying straight, square and fast at a defenderIMO. I could see a To'omua led backline take it to any team, if not solely because of his strong defensive game. Too bad he's gone :(
