Yeah, he had his moments at Super level, and was very valuable for the Tahs this year indeed, in fact one of the more valuable forwards I would say. Did a lot of grunt work. Cheika valued him highly too.
But doing it consistently at Test level is the next, far bigger step. I hope he comes back the player to do it. We'll see.

that is precisely why i used the expression "the Hillary Step" above. that's the last, hard part to making it to test class.

what's the name of the Brumby bloke who went to RSA, got 12,000 months for biting and then won anappeal? i think he's back at the Brumbies. can he play?
He ended up getting of and Rob?? Arnold played a bit for the Viking

Staniforth ... But someone on here with more knowledge then me (lee grant???) recokens he could be the next Brad Throne

the first 40 minutes of his debut were just terrific. he took on Horwill and Simmons and kept them very busy indeed.

Brumbies nicknamed him the monster. He gives it everything and loves to rip in. I'd see him in gold one day.

agreed.
i was highly impressed.
he really did take the fight to Horwill and Simmons and was the "lock of the day".

future gold wearer for certain, given good management and coaching and barring injury.
boy can play.

I hope you're right both for his sake and the Brumbies. But atm he hasn't played a Super game. Needs to show he can handle that level before being spoken of as a prospective Wallaby. Saying that though, he did play better in the NRC than Staniforth.

I was talking about Staniforth :)

while you two try to work out who is who and who thinks what about whom, let me just say:
1. i haven't seen anything of Arnold.
2. i think Staniforth had a terrific Soup debut against Horwill and Simmons and has a big future - a Wallaby future.

now, may i ask, please:
1. does Arnold, INYEO, have a future as a pro rugby player?

ta for your forbearance

Have not seen enough of him but his Skeltonish size

In some ways it is understandable that it's hard for Cheika to find a spot for Godwin & English to get some game time on this tour..the Wallabies only have 6 games to play before the RWC and barring a raft of injuries in their respective positions neither of those two blokes are going to be on the plane to England next year, so what's the point in blooding them now? TGC's priority is to get the combinations and strategy right in the limited game time there is between now and then.
Speight however is a different kettle of fish..I think we have to assume that he didn't pull up 100% after the BaaBaa's game because it's crucial for him to get game time otherwise..more crucial is that he is fit though.

You'd think though the TGC would just give a quick word on that, no? 'Yeah he pulled up a bit sore' or something? While many have said he's not obligated to tell us /the meeja everything, surely the general consensus is that there's a lot of anticipation about him starting.

I saw Arnold play 3 games for the Vikings in the NRC. You couldn't miss him, at 6'11". I think I read somewhere he will the tallest player in Super Rugby if he gets a game.

He isn't Skelton size, though. On the field he looks pretty solid, but when you stand next to him he is very tall and relatively skinny. He can also jump in the lineout.

Blue says he is lumbering and slow. I didn't notice that when I saw him play, but he seemed to get over the gain line pretty well in attack.

It's classic internet rugby forum to be talking about a guy who has never played a Super Rugby game as a potential solution to our problems at lock. o_O
Usually when someone gets parachuted in to the wallabies on here i have actually heard of him
