Back to his disruptive influence, can we say it didn't have an affect on the team before the Argentina loss? Obviously you cannot blame Beale for the loss, but close games come down to every little advantage, and not being caught up in a media shitstorm before the game would be a good advantage for a team.

Argentina game was due to fatigue and nothing else.

Some of you are ignoring the Link/Patston dynamic in the team environment irrespective of the Beale saga. There were numerous reports about it with players not happy. Them no longer working for the ARU cannot be all put down to Beale.

I thought of asking Quentin Tarantino to do one of his last movies (has flagged retirement) based on the current state of Australian Rugby ... but after doing "Reservoir Dogs" he probably wouldn't want to go over old ground .

Some people need there to be a scapegoat. Makes it much easier to understand.

And this is the key point. Up until now it was solely the tribunal's decision as to whether or not his actions were of an acceptable nature. But now we have the coach and captain strongly endorsing a player who has repeatedly shown he couldnt give less of a shit about the jersey, team or fans and apparently has no sense of consequences.

I for one can't support a team that is coached and captained by two men who apparently think sexism, harassment and a long list of misconduct issues are acceptable attributes for a Wallaby. And no, i bloody well don't think that's an over reaction - what a horrible culture and mantra to associate yourself with.,

You're taking the leap that it is the coach's job and various player's jobs to make disciplinary decisions of their own going against the decision of the actual tribunal and system established to deal with these issues.

The whole point is that people are employed to do certain jobs and that alone.

Your attitude is that of a lynch mob demanding vengeance. Don't expect other people to join your crusade.

The coach is employed to produce the best rugby team he can.

I'm not blaming Beale. But these things are more likely to detract from a team performance than add to them.

I wasn't having a go at you in particular.

Conspiracy theories seek to explain the world around us, and tend to emerge when shit gets weird. Then when you start looking at things like identity-protective cognition, motivated reasoning etc. it really isn't enormously surprising that people searcing for an explanation, particularly those who had emotionally invested heavily in McKenzie, have been happy to declare Beale alone to blame.

I wouldn't have been massively fussed if Beale had been booted from Australian rugby for good, and I'm not massively fussed that he's on tour now. Cheika clearly likes him and/or thinks he's good enough to be worth bringing over and that's good enough for me really.

DD results change my emotional investment in individuals. I thought link was a poor hire by the reds and hated Simmons and Cooper initially, but thought Schatz was great at first. My views on all have changed as I have seen different results.

Perhaps Beale isn't alone to blame, but I'll put my stake on the side who have never been in trouble, against the one who has repeatedly.

Anybody who would back Beale on all the FACTS at play is kidding themselves, if these were nameless characters in a situation they'd be pointing the finger at the repeated disruption.

all things being equal we are going to see the following 5 blokes compete for the four back 3 spots at the RWC (3 starters + #23):
AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
JOC (James O'Connor)
Speight
Folau
Beale

One of them will miss out..

And the starters will probably be Speight, Folau, and JOC (James O'Connor).
AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) offers more utility on the bench, especially in a 6/2 split.
Which is why I don't understand the need to rush Beale over under current circumstances, and without the need for injury cover.

I want to move on and watch rugby and a big part of that is supporting the Wallabies.

A decision was made, many people didn't like it, but it's time to move on. People are now having a go at Cheika for not appeasing their moral outrage.

It may be the case that a team full of players who behave perfectly will perform better, but no one knows that for sure and the team isn't picked based on who is the best behaved in class.

So you think Beale is the right player to parachute in as an EXTRA squad member despite no need and compromise the wallabies values over?

Anyone saying they will no longer support the Wallabies is acting like Chicken Little and completely overreacting. If you refused to support any team or entity that has a sexual harassment incident you would very quickly run out of things to support.

That is an incredibly sweeping generalisation and pretty bloody poor form. Who and why people support sports teams is entirely up to them.

You have as much right to judge my decision as I do, yours to apparently continue your support. It may be a trivial issue for you but please don't insist that it should be for everyone else.

Agree. Seems a little bewildering that the ARU cuts funding to SS but apparently has the bucks to send someone to Europe when there is no cited injury concerns among our backs.

That's my point though. It's not a simple question of Beale vs the FACTS. There's a whole lot of weird shit that's been going on for months now. Breaking it down to that is fine, but it's not super helpful.

I think Beale is an idiot, but saying he's the sole reason McKenzie and Patson walked seems pretty ridiculous to me. It's witch-hunt sort of stuff. Nice clear culprit, kick him out of the game, everyone feels better.

Don't think there was any conspiracy, pro-Waratahs or otherwise. More just there was a serious of complete fuck ups, not all necessarily connected, that got slammed together.

I don't see Cheika picking Beale as being anything more than Cheika liking what Beale brings to the team and wanting to see what he can do at Test level, and with a monster like Kuridrani beside him. With the World Cup coming up next year he'd almost be negligent not to. Really, I'm more annoyed he didn't bring another THP over with Beale than anything else.

I don't think Cheika sees Beale as a 10/12 at international level..at Super rugby it's about getting the best 15 players from your contracted squad on the field for the majority of the game, which is a different mindset to coaching the national team where he has the flexibility to call up the 5/8 from the Dubbo Roos if he so desires..

I don't think Speight has the character to fit into this Wallaby team..........

Thats what i am struggling with, if the ARU is broke why send extra players when not needed. How much will Beales holiday cost plus i saw Ben Whittaker in the coaches box at Cardiff Arms.
Why would he be there? Keeping an eye on everyone? How much is that costing.
