It won't happen but it sure would be fun. Something like:

1. Bell 2. BPA 3. Tupou
4. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) 5. Skelton
6. Uru 7. McReight 8. Valetini

9. Gordon 10. Edmed 11. Pietsch 12. Kerevi 13. Ikitau 14. Suallii 15. Wright

Certainly a bit more grunt and carry than we've had. Although it won't matter if we continue our defensive strategy of 'backpedal at a 90 degree angle at pace'.

10. Donaldson
11. Kellaway
12. Kerevi
13. Ikitau
14. Potter
15. Wright

Suallii or Pietsch and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) on the bench

8. Wilson
9. Gordon
10. Lolesio
11. Pietsch
12. Kerevi
13. Ikitau
14. Kellaway
15. Wright
16. BPA
17. Kailea
18. Alaatoa
19. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto)
20. Gleeson
21. McDermott
22. Donaldson
23. I can't decide between Jorgo and Sua'ali'i.

I think Schmidt appreciates continuity in this team, believing that it builds connection, something Eddie Jones disregarded. All in all, dropping an inexperienced JAS into a hungry English side that had it's hearts shattered last week will be throwing the boy in the deep end too much. Instead, playing him against a side like Wales may allow him to find his groove and find confidence. Nevertheless, it beats putting him on against a firing Feyi-Waboso or Duhan Van der Merwe (if they choose to play him at wing, which looks likely).

First Test v England at Twickenham starting for young Edmed? As if! Sua'ali'i on bench possibly.

Someone convince me that this will be worth watching and not the usual England at Twickenham grinding us into the dust.
This will be the game where the wallabies have such dominant win that we think all has been fixed in Aus rugby then we watch as lose the next 3 so bad that we forget Eddie Jones

Why Skelton and Kerevi will start

If we simply pick our RC side, we will get eaten alive by England. So what's to lose by playing some who might/will enhance some aspects of our performances. I expect both of Skelton and Kerevi to come into the starting lineup.

Why Sua'ali'i will be on the bench

Sua'ali'i to come off the bench. In the 12 spot would be my guess as Kerevi runs out of steam. He can come on and play a simple SBW type of game - hit it up between two defensive players and use his strength and size to get offloads happening. He would be better supported in defence at 12 with the backrow coming across from set plays and Len Ikitau in his ear about where to be and who to take. On the wing, he would probably be tempted to come off his winger in defence as that seems to be the way mungo wingers play (also see Andrew Kellaway) and open up the outside channel for ground gaining raids.

Disclaimer

I am not a selector and have no inside information on Wallaby selections. This is just how I would play it for the test against England if it were up to me.

Forwards spot on.

And I also agree with Donaldson at 10. He is a bit more physical than Noah and more likely to be able to combat the rush defence by England. Otherwise, in the backs, why choose Potter with no test experience and very limited Super Rugby experience over Pietsch who has played solidly in his test match(es) to date and has much more experience at the next level below? That change apart, I think this is very close to what we'll see for Saturday.

Oh man this whole time I've been operating under false assumptions.

The reason I pick potter over pietsch at 14 is because the next level below test he has heaps more experience and game time. He played 67 games for the tigers and he can slot into any position in the backline as needed. If you have pietsch and sua’ali’i on the bench you don’t have that cover in case of injury. Maybe they will run Dono in the 22 jersey for this reason.

I would consider dropping kellaway for Pietsch. I Personally think Potter has the goods and the England test is the best game to get him out there and really test his limits

I tend to agree with BR that Skelton and Kerevi should and probably will start. They're point of difference players at their best and we need that kind of impetus if we're going to beat England, who really should have won on the weekend.

Skelton provides an answer to the maul, which has been a weakness for us in 2024. He also provides go forward with ball in hand and knocks bodies over at the breakdown. We need to see the kind of performances from him that we observe in European club footy.

Kerevi when fit is by far our best 12. He'll be able to truck up sloppy pill and get us over the advantage line. I reckon Donaldson would work well with him.
