England v Australia - Twickenham, 14 Nov, 4:30am AEDT

I had the misfortune of tuning in at the 60m mark. First thing I saw was a Wallabies penalty get turned around through crowd/TMO intervention on a farcical Samu high shot. Fuck me. As Sean Maloney rightly pointed out, where was that last game in the less up for the Hooper try? We could’ve pulled the score back to a 1 point (I think) difference with that penalty.

A couple more stinkers followed (Sinckler knee on ground in scrum - England win penalty, White blocking) but also 20 mins of ineptness from us. Butchered lineouts, dropped ball, headless chook play etc. I’ll watch the first 60 later today but it doesn’t sound much different?

The only plus side I can see is that NZ lost too so that’s one week at least where we don’t have to be bombarded on social media by the usual gleeful trolls.

Our defensive effort was gritty at times. Thats the only positive I can see from the game.
There should be a few changes for next week and we hope that Hooper, TT and AA are all available.

Philip and Swain back in for Arnold and Skelton.
Perese starts at 13.
Kellaway at 15 with Daugunu coming on to the wing.
Possibly McDermott starts because of his combo with JOC (James O'Connor).
JOC (James O'Connor) and Wright get a reprieve because there is no one else.

The tour from hell rolls on……..

Alright bc I'm a fucking sadist I watched it. And it wasn't as bad as I thought from us - but it was generally a poor game of rugby and frustrating to watch. England were there for the taking and we muffed it.

England first try - poor defence. Leota shoots but that isn't the issue; we have a stacked blind and SFA on the open. England manipulated us and we fell for it.

England's attack - speed of ruck ball and simple lines on attack are damaging us. We're too slow off the line and disjointed. Marcus Smith never got an easier ride but is finding this isn't club rugby. Missing a Swinton-style hard hitter at rucks and in close.

JOC (James O'Connor) continues to attack from depth as per last week, and it isn't working. I'm a believer in combinations and really, Tate should have started with him to see if that shifted the needle. Hopefully next week.

That was one of Beale's last appearances in gold. Tried a lot, did some good things, but lot of errors.

Fainga'a doesn't know the lineout Laws about numbers, and while personally I think numbers at lineout is the most technical, stupid Law in the book, that is how it is. A lot of players don't seem to want to know what they're responsible for, and for the most part it doesn't affect them.

Slipper's feet start a little too wide at scrum time, and too far back.

Our defence is very compressed off English set piece. Numbers end up uneven.

Valetini is having a good game. Leota with a couple of good runs as well.

Lol the line Curry takes straight at Hooper in minute 27 off an England lineout is hilariously offside and obstruction besides. Thankfully, Paisami scared the shit out of Smith who passes forward.

The yellow card against Wright was correct, but only awarded after the home broadcaster smashed up a heap of replays. Kind of like AAA last week.

Smart play by England in the 34th, just holding Itoje up half a second to encourage the early drive on the maul. England's maul is getting absolutely monstered otherwise. Good to see.

We conceded 10 penalties in 34 minutes. Not good enough.

White's trysaver on George was good, but it was not happening without Hooper dropping in from nowhere.

Scrum penalty to us in 38th on England ball. Nice. Shows the ability is there if everyone switches on, and England aren't 100% - Jamie George being the fall guy with his crook knee from Hooper's tackle.

I'm really not sure why we are trying second-man moves in our 22 after we bring it back to 16-15. JOC (James O'Connor) should be 15m back from the first ruck and booting it clear.

Around that 50 minute mark - Bell's yellow card - our defense starts to get very lazy and frustrated. High tackles, arm tackles, tip tackles.

England aren't even doing anything good. Marcus Smith is not the messiah. We're letting them rip the ball out of our hands like it's U15 v Colts.

And that's the frustrating bit: we got done by a Pommy side that didn't even get out of third gear. We broke them open several times but lacked the cohesion to finish the job.

We went back to that team that was Michael Hooper plus a bunch of guys he met in the carpark. When he went off, it was no worse, but the finishers didn't get any better.

And I stopped the replay at the point where the home broadcaster decided Pete Samu did a high tackle.

England came 5th in 6 nations and after 7 straight losses today was a chance to reverse it. We don’t look like a top 3 side and don’t deserve to be until play a more consistent game. Feel we are missing the cooper - kerevi combo, whilst our speed to the breakdown was a bit off.

we rarely looked like we would threaten to score and not a great game for the spectator. Glad I watched Ireland vs nz after this to finish with a great game. Ireland has population of 5m and rugby from memory is 3rd ranked football code after Gaelic football and soccer so what is our excuse!

I think I would rather be a kiwi fan as Ireland in comparison to England in quality of their game they each played this weekend chalk and cheese. One talks about playing the complete game and how rare to achieve - ireland came close to this.

For me, there was one thing more disappointing than the loss - that was Beale laughing his head off with an England player immediately after the whistle blew.
Where was the pride in wearing the Wallabies jersey? To laugh as though you were having a session out with the boys... no team culture there.
I'm devastated.

As already tour from hell I would be tempted to dump JOC (James O'Connor) to the bench and start Noah as message to JOC (James O'Connor) he needs to lift his game. Yeh for all the hype of Arnold, Skelton and latu yet to really see the impact. Thought Arnold and Rodda did not have a great game or Skelton really did not see provide any impact from the bench. Swain and philips players that should be in the mix for next week.

When Beale left the tahs and went back overseas I thought that was good as he was past it for wallabies and for the money not probably great value for the tahs. Beale returning to the wallabies done nothing to change that thinking. Good on him he got another two tests but time to now leave him to reflect on past wallaby glories as surely future is not with Beale going forward.

The Wallabies need consistency so that combinations gain momentum. We are swapping and changing every game. A line needs to be drawn in the sand with the decisions around the Giteau players. They are either in or out leading into RWC. Player contracts need to be executed or they’re out of selection
Our backline in all sorts of havoc, with the lack of a quality flyhalf and fullback. These two positions are putting immense pressure on the whole team. JOC (James O'Connor) is not our answer! Let’s get Lolesio moving with some confidence, then look at Harrison and Gordon for 2022 who are specialists coming into the squad as development. Fullback moving forward to be Hodge and Banks, with Kellaway as the backup coming off the wing if required. JOC (James O'Connor), Paisami, Ikitau, Perese and Petaia to fight out the centres. Kellaway and Dangunu cement the wing positions with Petaia as back up. White and McDermott with the starting position determined by the starting flyhalf.
Get rid of Beale and Wright.
Put Arnold and Skelton back on that plane and work with the rest of the forwards leading into the RWC.
