Scarfy,

In the next few days members of the reds team will be spending some if their week off traveling through regional Australia to spread the values if rugby as well as the need for education. Some will be in regional Victoria (including digby), far west Qld and far north Qld.

These are things that could not occur if a) there wasn't enough money and b) players had to work other jobs. Swings and roundabouts.

There may well be swings and roundabouts, but that's a bad example. In the good old days, teams like the Wallabies or Waratahs would tour a country for 6 weeks.

And Godfrey, there's no point chucking history out the window. That Waratah means a fair bit to me. It's not everything, but it's something. Same as little things like proper jerseys, or the home team being the ones to use their alternative strip. If you lose all of that, you'll soon start thinking of test matches as development opportunities for the world cup. Oh, wait ...

its part of a wallaby thing isnt it about players going back to where it began for them. they have time, quite a few players from other teams have already done it. it can only be seen as a good thing.

Pretty sure this is a reds thing.

A Wallaby think. Like Rocky going back to the Sunshine Coast a few weeks ago.

Linked into the RWC this year.

So in the good old days players flew up to remote communities in far north queensland to support education programs? You are talking about extended test tours to other countries, I am talking about provincial players in remote communities. Hardly the same thing.
