Another great moment in refereeing in the Illawarra occurred during the 'Seventies. We were watching a game at Shamrocks' home ground and it was getting fairly willing. A bloke next to me said that someone would end up getting sent off. "No chance," I said, "Harold never sends players off."

This information was relayed among the Shamrocks' supporters who began to yell out: "Get stuck into 'em, Shammies, Hanson has never sent anyone off in his life."

He sent four off that day; three of ours and one of theirs. You don't have to be smart to play rugby.

I think $2,000 is a small price to pay if we now avoid that ref forever.

Time to move on and get back to the task at hand of putting about 100 points on the Rebels on Friday night.

No chance you will avoid the ref at all. Its very likely you'll get him at least once a season. See Kaplan being regularly appointed to the Tahs despite his record for proof.
