Did Joubert feel the pressure?

Ah, Drexl.

Mate, let's just say that you have clearly stated your opinion that Joubert is a cheat. Personally, I think that is crazy, but you had your say, OK?

Let's let this one go now. If not, I'm sure the thread will be closed and people given warnings / banned.

Jourbert had a shit first 20 mins and it affected the outcome. The standard of reffing at the whole tournament was terrible so the performance seemed appropriate

That was a different issue: in 2007 it was an error. A single error from a ref who must have regretted not seeing it. Unfortunate for the All Blacks.
Now, RWC2011 final, as it happened, Joubert deliberately influenced the whole game by not refereeing the 2 teams the same way. I have watched the match more than once.

I disagree with this. In all fairness they are not pro-French and I could also post links to the disgusting French bashing that occurred before the final. And the bookies refunding the bets on New Zealand to win over France the day before the match..
I have not seen New Zealand bashing in Ireland. They are fairly neutral.

Joubert did not referee both sides evenly. So it is not a case of the French were not used to this type of refereeing and they got surprised, but rather it is a case of being cheated by a referee otherwise competent.

Letting the game go for 2mn when Morgan Parra was down is one example out of many. (He stopped the game straight away when cruden was down)

You're welcome! :)

2007 isnt about missing a forward pass - it's about us being in the french half for 30 minutes, the french offisde in about 15 different places, but Barnes refusing to penalise them - sound familiar? I actually don't buy into it myself to be honest, I believe if you are good enough to win and deserve to win, a referee will have no bearing on that.

Have to agree to disagree on the Irish rugby media, that's for sure. And on the referee bias/cheating thing. I don't see itl ike that at all, but I can tell by what you've written that you won't listen to anybody anyway. Just one thing I suggest you do... how about watching the RWC Final for a 3rd time, and watch the French, and the French only - may be an eye opener (well at least help to open the other one, anyway).

I'm sorry for your aunt

This is off topic and arrogant. If you know anything about this type of tournament you'd know that it is all about gaining form as you progress. How good is it to have a good team that wins all matches in pool and then disappear in 1/4?
If you want to play the 'deserve' card then don't watch RWC. Instead I suggest X Factor (most popular wins) or figure skating for the team that looks the prettiest and get the more points.

As I see it, France did not cheat and thus deserved to be in the final.
If a tournament has to be decided on if the team deserves it or not then why would France bother turn up and giving a good show to everyone.

It is not a finished business as far as I am concerned. Joubert is a cheat, he sunk France blatantly and was rewarded for it by the IRB.

Maybe slightly off the topic, but gaining form as you progress? The French showed form in 2 games in the world cup...the QF win over England and the Final. They were terrible in the group stages and were certainly the 2nd best team in a game against 14 Welshmen. They were extremely lucky to make it to the final after losing two games in the pool stage and unfortunately for them (but fortunately for the rest of the world) their luck ran out in the final.

The RWC would've been a bit of a farce if a team who lost 2 games in the pool stage (one of them to Tonga!) went on to be crowned "World Champions". I for one am happy that the record still shows that no team has ever lost a game (never mind 2 games) in a World Cup and gone on to win it.

Can't see a rule poor Drexl's busted in his first posts.

If you're sick of the thread - here's a tip: STOP POSTING IN IT

I LOVE this thread. Everytime I think it's time to come down off the high, someone posts here and keeps me up in the 'We are the Champions' euphoria.

The cheating claims and the complaints about referee bias somehow makes it even sweeter......I hope Drexl keeps posting till Christmas!!

Then feel sorry for yourself. Bitching and blaming a ref when your team lost always sound like a sad tosser whining loser. Bet you havent moan one bit about any ref when France had their odd win in the WC.

Off Topic and arrogant my fucking arse. You lost by many a mile first up against the All Blacks in the pool match and lost to a minor rugby team and got into the final. Thats the other reason why I hate this WC tournament. The be all rugby shpw piece that devalue rugby no ends. If the Bokke had to get to the final like this and myself blame the ref after the final loss I'd be ashamed to call myself a Bok supporter.

I tried not but cant help myself when sad losers do. Joubert is a cheat, help yourself if it make you feel better. Your players was to weak to adapt to his rulings and like some try to tell you, thats the way he do his reffing. Adapt to the ref or die on the scoreboard. Suck it up and maybe after 4 years you'd be able to move on.

Time to release the sticky WC threads. Feel like it happened ages ago and will leave some with bad taste in their mouths.

Rougerie just "played the ref better". In which case we should be congratulating him surely?

Apparently if you don't get caught it's not cheating

Are you having difficulty distinguishing between foul play and dangerous play? Between a penalty and a red card offence?

Is this the queue for lobotomies?
