So, where are we at with the State Of The Union right now?
It looks from the outside like the Premier Clubs - except for Wildfires and Two Blues - are fielding their full complement of Grades + Colts AND we've got at least 3 clubs fielding a 4th Colts side in Div 3 every week:
Easts for Harlequins (several years now)
Gordon for Oysters
Marlins for Savers
Wouldn't be surprised if Warringah are similar in terms of numbers.
Eastwood told me they've got 80 bodies turning up to training every week for their Colts, so probably have enough to make 4th Colts a goer as well. They were surprised to learn about dual registration, which was in turn surprising to me as the contact is ex-Subbies as recently as last year.
That's 5 Premier Clubs hoarding Colts and you just know Sydney Uni cold trot out 4 or more Colts sides if they wanted. I hear they actually enforce a cutoff, which is to their credit if true.
Meanwhile I'm told that some clubs in the top 2 Divisions of Subbies are having trouble getting U21 on the park, including some of those contesting finals last year.
