Wow. What a win for Australian rugby.

Anyone in the Gladesville area, not working or at School at 9.30 on a Thursday has a real opportunity.

i will be there, im taking down my notebook with a few suggestions for deans and co, plus i might drag tom carter along and have him run some drills on the sideline to show the boys how real men do it!

Thanks for posting that info.

I also recommend that people go to the Oz U/16 national championships on Wednesday and Friday at the same ground; at least you will see a bit of physicality and spirit in the rugby.

Hope the rain stays away. The cricket pitch area under rain makes the Oval at Sydney Uni look like a desert.

He runs a hardware shop on the side.

Tom is finding it hard to get a run at the moment, knowing how to catch, pass and break the advantage line makes him overqualified for the wallabies.

Sorry but I refuse going unless I get paid. Base free $2500 plus expenses, post match beer and taxi fare home.

I don't work for nothing you know.

Carter made just two linebreaks in the S14, he may know how to catch and pass but the reality is that he doesn't pass, in fact he only passed 4 times.

The only redeeming feature in his game is his defence which is very solid, but he is just average in attack.

It's school holidays, so they wont even get the probably riverview crowd!

They could have played the Wallabies vs Oz U/16's.... would have been a close game

yeah, but based on his minutes played he is probably the most potent backline weapon in australia!

Would love to but just had 12 days off for an Africa trip, and have only held this job since July 1... so a little on the negative side of the ledger to date.

When? Where? Who to? As they said in the old AFL ad, "I'd like to see that!".

If there was one thing which cruelled the Tahs' campaign this year it was Carter's hogging habit.

carter and beale did more run arounds than any 12/10 combo in australian super 14 history i would say.

im picking him up at 7 tomorrow and were just going to jog up and down the sidelines, hopefully if someone gets injured or gits pulls a heartlidge then he can get a run.

Quite an enjoyable session at Riverview between the Possums and the Wombats except it was as cold as hell.

It wasn't really a trial game: more like a series of 10 minutes stints, but there were some willing contests.

Hynes and Horne were not supposed to play but they did. Ioane was supposed to play but he didn't.

Star Players:

Genia - has a pass like Cordingley both ways and looks like he will be a Wallaby for a long time. He even had a stint on the wing and was fast enough to put an in and away on to score. By contrast Burgess was off balance a lot and his dishing out was below average. Valentine probably shaded him.

Barnes
played 10 most of the time that I noticed and looked the goods. Passing very good though he's still a bit deep as 1st receiver.

Palu
came on late like a specialist player in the NFL, got the ball from the back of a scrum and scored. Was hard to stop on another couple of occasions near the line. Looks fit. May start in Tokyo on the strength of that showing.

Smith did absolutely nothing for about 40 minutes then he put his stamp on the "match".

Of the others:

Cooper was looking good and then bad with goofy mistakes; was good at getting one arm loose in the tackle to offload. KB (Kurtley Beale) at 12 only didn't get a lot of great pill but wouldn't look out of place as a dirt-tracker on tour. He still looks too big and am surprised that no journo has mentioned it.

JOC (James O'Connor) had a bit of a shocker at 15 but Turner chimed in nicely a couple of times though he tended to over run the ball. Kingi looked out of his depth and don't ask me about Robbie Horne as he was mostly on the wing and hardly got the ball.

Can't say that any of the forwards apart from Palu and Smith took my eye. They seemed to be very organised on goal line defence and perversely, their goal-line attack seemed hard and precise. The needed to whip it out a bit more after a few charges but maybe they were instructed to practise it.

Can't say that any dark horse jumped out to tour or anyone who spoiled their chances - though Burgess and JOC (James O'Connor) probably came closest to having their names crossed off the clipboard. Dunning didn't do a lot but his side of the scrum looked good.
