For the Reds I would love him to stay on for as long as he wants, but as a Wallabies fan I'd prefer he went overseas next year as I'd rather not see him wearing black in the 2011 RWC.

Graham Henry would have to pick him on form ATM, he's definitely been the best kiwi 7 running around.

Richie McCaw looks old & clapped out this season sought of like Mortlock surely it would take a miracle for McCaw to find his form of 2005.

I know McCaw was gifted Fourie Du Preez IRB player of the year award but he's definitely had better years than 09/10.

He's only allowed the 2 years right? Greta player but hell will freeze over before he lifts McCaw out of the team.

Handy backup though.

That award is baffling to say the least but the IRB msut have thought the Kiwis needed to win something last year.

The breakdown focus has really exposed McCaw. He will be kept as he is such an inspirational leader. A move to 6 and Braid to 7 would suit well. Reid to take the 8 Jersey.

Don't forget he didn't start till halfway through the comp so has yet to hit his straps. I wouldn't be surprised if he does that in the next two weeks with everything to play for. He will come good for the 3N for sure...

Richie wasn't as good at pilfering as Smith but he was a breakdown pest when the refs use to let the tacklers hold on & lie in the ruck area, he wasn't brilliant at slowing down front foot ball.

He played from round 3 via bench after the saders lost to qld, so he hasn't missed to much rugby.

is it too late to get the 2 year limit changed? :thumb

but seriously, he's been worth every dollar he's earning this year. solid as in defense and is capable of covering more than his share, which i think will really be missed. his contribution to the overall effectiveness of the reds defense is hard to quantify because of this.

will be hard to replace next year even with the young guns that are waiting in line. maybe the reds throw them to the fire or maybe they get a fill in for a year or two?

Is Beau Robinson on the radar? Is he worth contracting?

i was trying to think of who else might be available salvi signing for the ponies. beau seems the one with the most experience out there. colby fainga'a and alcock (is he signed up?) are other younger possibilities.

Yeah, I was talking about the Colby Fainga'a, but we agreed he's most definetely on a rookie contract atm and will get signed easily for next year by the Brumbies.

Alcock would be a very good signing.

Colby Finger is signed up for 2011 already by the Brumbies.

Alcock is available and would be a good long time acquisition. He looked like a seasoned S14 no 7 when he started against the Cheetahs after Waugh had to miss a game because of a quad injury, though he is a virtual beginner at openside flanker. He was an 8 last year for his Gordon club when he played 1st grade which was not every weekend.

Looks like a natural but he's just 21 and won't be any Braid; at best, not for a while.

I'm willing to have a look at the 2 we just signed before I go looking for Braids replacement.

Boys, boys were fine. Eddy Quirk will play in the 7 jersey next year until he develops properly and is moved into his customary 6 jersey. At this point hopefully Gill is ready for the 7 and Shatz is running around at 8. At the point in time when this becomes a reality the Reds will have the best back-row in the country.

maybe I am getting ahead of myself.....

Sounds like a cheese snack.

We need to keep Alcock and develop him. He's playing blindside for the highlanders at the moment isn't he?
