Oh man I am positively exhausted from watching that. Good game to watch. Very good game from Rebels. I thought the Rebels played better than us for most of the game. I am happy to see us still win despite playing like headless chooks at times - scrum & some big hits in defence would be Saders main positives in terms of performance for mine.

Saders will need a huge improvement in form to beat the Brumbies next week.

I'd rate the Rebels a good chance against the Chiefs.

If the Rebels had decent props they would've won that
Agree. Alo-Emile came on buckled on contact in all but one (?) of his scrums. Looks overweight and without the requisite skills, hoping the new recruits from the UK stiffen things up.

Shattered by the result but happy with the intensity and flair. O'Connor, Woodward, Pyle, Higgers, Fuglistaller all had storming games. Our pack next year (provided the front row gets sorted) will be solid. Good signs to keep building on.

I thought Pyle and Neville were huge, and I was very disappointed with Jones performance when he came on. Say what you will about the props but they don't call it a tight 5 for nothing and Jones binding in a lot of those scrums looked incredibly loose.

Phipps was alright in broken play, but his work from the base of the ruck leaves a lot to be desired, some absolutely shocking passes. The Waratahs are in need of a talismen at 9 to steer the ship, and I don't think Phipps is the bloke for the job at all.

Woodward did some good things and some bad things. Sidey made a horrible read in defence for the first try. Rebels need someone better at 12.

O'Connor played well but all the good stuff he did was in the outside channel and not from flyhalf. I think he's a winger or a centre, and I'd like to see him play some games at 12 or 13 before the season ends.

Agree with that......

And Phipps spoiled some good attacking opportunities with some terrible passes at the back of the ruck.........

Obviously a strong effort but!
1. Second game in a row that the last ten was appalling and the same symptoms.JOC (James O'Connor) disappears , Woodward makes a classic blunder,Higgers drops a simple ball, bench make negative impact.
2. Phipps continues to be a liability
3. Saffy and Neville best forwards replaced, coaching by remote control.
4. If and I mean if Beale returns , want to see him at 10 and JOC (James O'Connor) at 12.
Sidey not close to this level and stymies Inman who could be outstanding .

Johnny English wasn't the total disaster that many suggested he would be, and he even did a few things as per job description in the second half.

Nick Stirzaker was snappy when he came on, looked pretty good (for a Sydney Uni player). Inman played well also.

Tyler Bleyendaal and Luke Romano were both impressive for the good guys.

rumour is that beale is possibly back in melbourne tomorrow and may be back at training tuesday.

? available for the chiefs

i agree that the bench wasn't used very effectively today. jones didn't stand out, especially at scrum time and delve anonymous when he came on. saffy and neviile were fantastic.

I'm not sure that the issue was the bench not being used effectively, it was that the bench just didn't appear to be up to the task in comparison to the Sheep Shaggers. How the hell can you compete with His Rugby Highness Dan Carter coming on at the 65 minute mark?

The lads who were replaced had played themselves to a standstill and didn't appear to have too much left in the tank. Unfortunately the Mexican's bench was like sending a foot mounted Infantry Battalion to a Tank battle.

Zack's passing was on the money. A little more game time and is a Wallaby!!!

The subs were just awful, PAE * face palm *

Hill resting players because of the 5 day turnaround, instead of winning the game. Would of been that elusive overseas win.

Higgers took his game to a new level, nice of TJ to comment on it.

Saffy back to his old self.

This wasn't as ugly as I thought. Friday, I'm worried.

Yep kronic, if the Rebs were going to win one away from home, this was the one. That is why I was talking it up early in the thread.

The Chiefs have had a terrible run recently and they will be out to make amends to stake their claims for a slot in the finals. There is a good chance the first 20 minutes vs the Shorks will be repeated for the full 80 against your mob.

Rebels have lost the surprise element and Beale or no Beale, I share similar feelings to you as to the likely outcome come Friday.

saffy was superb. back to his hard working, tackling best.
devastated with woodward's kick. that was the turning point. though to be honest the game was lost in spite of that - all the penalties and the scrums!
PAE struggled against crocket. phipps was patchy.
woodward, kick aside, is excellent
beale at 10, JOC (James O'Connor) 12, Inman 13 and Woodward at fullback.
Inman was great again. he is getting very impressive.

higgers had his best game yet, but two lost balls in contact were painful to watch.

very very very pleased with the endeavor.
