Halftime 32-13 to Crusaders.

Carter playing and kicking superbly. It might be a long night for the Highlanders.

I said this in the playoff thread - God help any team that comes up against the Crusaders from now on. They are murdering teams at the moment.

The breakdown was a dogs' breakfast before Walsh started displaying the willy wonka golden ticket. At that point the Highlanders were in it. Then the Crusaders started opening them up. Haskells' absence was more telling than Whitelocks.

I mentioned in the other thread that Carter looked pretty sore after kicking that penalty goal...

Yeah, I saw that. Looks like he has shaken it off, although you can never be too sure. I think that if he pulls up sore when he cools down will be the real indicator of whether he has done some damage. Other than that, he has the ball on a string at the moment. The Highlanders are totally bamboozled by him. Not a good sign for any non All Black supporter heading into the international season.

Darn those "Aussie refs". lol, Haskell is a penalty magnet, so not surprising. We have a few players that let us down consistently, props and locks generally. Not looking good at the moment.

Seriously though, it doesn't help when Steve Walsh lets the Crusaders do whatever they want, numerous forward passes leading to tries, offside at the rucks, offside on the defensive line. Not gonna change the result but he's just opened the door for them.

And he's totally missed Franks flying dangerously into the ruck unbound...

He's actually reffing different to last week and just letting anything go...

His excuse was "I know, but it was messy".

Ah well, doesn't change the result. I don't mind a bit of loose refereeing, just not against my team :)

To be totally fair, I think that Walshs' refereeing tonight hasn't been too bad. Same as you ACR, I don't mind loose refereeing. Walsh reffed really tight last week and never really got on top of the breakdowns. This week, he sorted it out early by allowing Whitelock and Haskell entry into Willy Wonkas Chocolate Factory.

The Crusaders (and the Highlanders for that matter) have been loathe to kick tonight. Both teams came into the game with the plan of winning the game by keeping ball in hand. The only difference was that the Crusaders were far more effective at it.

Richie looked pretty sore on the sideline. Hopefully he hasn't fractured a cheek bone.

By my reckoning the Crusaders are on 51 points after this game. There is every chance they could take top spot in the Kiwi conference, should the Chiefs drop a game or two. The round 17 clash between the Chiefs and Crusaders will decide the Kiwi conference I would think.

I'm quite pleased with that result. Richie played like a sir

A question for the refs at about 63 minutes the Crusaders have a ruck under the Highlanders posts. Franks is standing in his usual offside position unbound at the side of the ruck in the position now called the pillars. The ball squirts free and he turns around and picks it up. Is he offside? He is certainly in front of the last feet of the ruck and plays the ball.

Not nice to quote myself, but would one of the refs answer my question, was he offside?
