It isn't comparing him directly to Larkham, it is noting some similarities in their strengths - long pass, footwork, tactical kicking, and asking what can be done to bring them on - what players around him are important, what coaches need to do to help etc...
No-one is saying they are on level footing. Cooper is still very young, and could be a very good player yet.

Fair enough.

Guess I'm just saying that the very first time I saw SL, I had a gut feeling he was going to become a nightmare for AB supporters. I just don't get anything like that feeling with QC (Quade Cooper).

I hope I'm right. Never been wrong before & not looking to learn what it feels like now.... :)

At 30 secs Bernie runs into his own man - the Number 8 (don't know who it was). Under Rule 11.6, said Number 8 is accidentally offside and IMO the Wallabies did gain advantage from it - therefore should have been scrum Black. So you'd only have to assume, if you can believe it, refs were favouring the Wallabies back then.

At least put the fishing smiley :fishing in, you're being as blatant as black sivun.

Or perhaps do a vid from that period highlighting how widespread a problem it was then.

I was trying for the smileys but couldn't get them to work for some reason, honest.

My point of course was that you can take almost any passage of play at random and find some grey area which can fuel accusations and counter-accusations of cheating/favouritism/conspiracy. It's clear to me, at least, that the team that cops all the bile and suspicion at any one time is the team that's on top.

Notice also every break has at least two players coming from depth in support. No players got the ball flat footed.

How about it Deans?

As for the backline with Cooper, A direct centre like Herbert, Mortlock (out of what we have Horne can do it, Chambers, Ioane or AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)) with a second runner at 12 (Horan, Grey). It is at 12 we have the problem and with no matches for either of those we have. I have lost faith with Giteau and would drop him to the bench and start Barnes who is solid and reliable. Leave the play making to Cooper and have the solid foil beside him. A. Fainga'a needs to learn not to charge up for the big hit, I still say his technique and decision making need improvement before he is ready again. However if it is a choice between him and Giteau starting I would choose Finger. Giteau will just cramp Cooper trying to be the play maker.

how about lealifano? He's a good runner and was one of the brumbies best before he got injured.

Absolutely under rated IMO, is as good as any to play, naturally I'm biased. But the beauty was the ball was always in front of his body and such a balanced runner.

Great posting and work to put it together. Thanks.

Larkham 2.0 suggests that Cooper is an updated and improved version of Bernie. I reckon Larkham 0.6 is probably a more accurate assessment.

Why would there be a 0.6 Version of something? Would it be like a prototype or something?

My preferance would be To'omua but I would be hapy with either playing 10. Just please not Giteau at 10 again.

Lilo put in the half dozen worst performances at 10 for the Brumbies that I've ever seen. His kicking is as bad as Luke Burgess' passing.

Brock James can't be terrible can he? Clermont won the Top 14.And have been at or near the top ever since he's been there.

Didn't watch any of it though.

I'm a bit partial to Daniel Halangahu too, seems to steer a pretty tight ship

He's solid, but doesn't quite offer enough in attack for me. But then again, we've been spoiled for hugely gifted skilful 5/8's in the last 30 years who can turn a game with their running and passing ability.

Hangers would be a Poms wet dream at 10, unfortunately we don't have the cattle for a forward dominated game. Sydney Uni have been very successful with him behind a dominant pack

I was just thinking that Scotland would love to have him, but you're right, England would lap up his style of play. He would be suited to their type of game. He's got a good boot, is good in defence, can steer the team around the park and do so in a fairly unhurried way. With a good pack, you can build a team around that.

Plus Hangers has that "right foot step and fucking head for the line" that he put into use this year and last year vs the Blues.
