Comments like this really aren't on. If a player is convicted of a crime you can comment but in this case you are opening the site and yourself up to all sorts of things.

Seriously,Sully but that is bullshit.
QC (Quade Cooper) had to admit guilt to participate a first offenders program, supervised by the court.
They didn't proceed with the prosecution only because he satisfactorily completed mediation with the victim/s to the satisfaction of the prosecutors.

Just like KB (Kurtley Beale) is going to do with his little problem ATM.

Fine. In that case it's playing the man and not the ball. Happy?

Happier, but why are the Qlders so thin skinned about QC (Quade Cooper).
On occasions posters defending him verge on the hysterical.

We're getting side tracked, but why are NSWmen so thin skinned about Tom Carter etc. Brumbies fans about McCabe etc.

We don't like it when other states try and steal our Tom Carter jokes. We've spent years coming up with all the best ones.

Perhaps I think we should treat people with a bit more respect. Even if they're not from queensland.

That's pretty precious, Sully.

It's obviously a joke. How could a joke like that open the site up "to all sorts of things"? Also, if that's "playing the man" then you'd better just ban humour on here.

Still, if you want to delete it, go right ahead. You're the mod. No need to be condescending though.

Believe when I say it's not condescending. And maybe it was funny a year ago now it's just the same joke for the 127 time. I'm in line with how the mods have decided to deal with this and I won't be deleting the post

Sully, I don't want to be a dick about this, but you're now saying that the problem is not that it was potential defamation, not that it was playing the man, but that "maybe it was funny a year ago now it's just the same joke for the 127 (sic) time".

Anyway, whatever. It was a harmless attempt at humour. My apologies if it got some folks wound up.

No it's still playing the man. I was responding to your point about it being funny.

Oh, I never said it was funny. Just that it was a joke. Big difference. ;) Your definition of playing the man is clearly very different to mine, so let's just leave it at that.

What about players who study degrees during the season or players who pursue other commercial opportunities?
Both those consume a significant amount of time and realistically have no potential benefits to their on-field performances, yet boxing quite possible could through increased fitness.

Thats not a bad point, but there is a difference between study to broaden the mind and provide for a post sporting career career, working some business interests in around their Rugby commitments and trying to excel in another very demanding sporting field that not only competes in terms of the training and preparation required but also in terms of the headspace it absorbs with promotion, the different crowds that run with it etc. It s far more distracting and far less complimentary in my view.

I can't believe how much I agree with Karl here.

I'll only add that being punched in the head isn't great for anyone's long term sporting career. We've had enough 5/8s with "footballers migraine".

Cooper fighting a professional boxing match is the equivalent of a sportsperson deciding they want to try their hand at acting or being a TV presenter.

His biggest risk will be breaking his hands and that risk will be managed by finding someone tubby enough for him to fight that there aren't really any hard surfaces for him to punch.

Complimentary nonetheless, players are entitled to find other means to increase their income stream as long as they don't conflict or impede significantly on each other. IMO whether we as fans are fully supportive of Quade/SBW having a couple of fights in the offseason is largely irrelevant.
