Truth be told, I was nearly shitting my pants during the 2nd half. Memories from 1999 & 2007 came rushing back as the game had eerily the same playbook. We played well in the first half and leading at halftime, only for France to come back strongly at the 2nd half.

As soon as Dusatoir scored, I thought, "Oh Noooooo!!! Not again."

France was just awesome but we held our nerves and grind out the win. Phew!!!

Finally glad to have gotten rid of that monkey now.

P.S: Guess, who's a World Cup winner now boys..... The Don himself, eat humble pie boys.
I assume you mean the NZ media and fans who treated him so shamefully after Hong Kong?

I'd just like to add my congrats and add to the sentiment expressed by others that NZ deserve the win, not only on the basis of their performance in this WC, but also as the team that consistently sets the standard in world rugby. Also like the fact that they play a 15 man game.

The final was a cracker of a game - such an improvement on 4 yrs ago.

Final point, well done to Donald - hope he enjoys his time in the sun. However short or long it ends up being he has coped plenty to get there and it is always good to see someone get one back on his critics. Especially like that he stepped up without hesitation to kick that penalty.

You can still tee off on Donald if you want to, he so nearly missed that total gimme of a penalty goal. But in fairness to him he actually played well around the park, better than Cruden dare I say it. Weepu on the other hand... pulled out a classic AB choke, fortunately he was pretty much the only one.

For the record the ABs did deserve to win that final for me, controlled the first half every bit as much as the French controlled the second, punished France for not only lifting on their own line -not once but TWICE! an incredibly retarded decision - and then when the pendulum swung the other way they allowed France less opportunities than they had been allowed in the first half.

All in all a high quality final where the better side probably won, they just weren't the better side in the second half.

Weepu was injured during the warmup, and there was some doubt as to whether he was fit to play.

That's news to me. In my defence, I was avoiding watching pre-game punditry on Nine's Wank World Of Sponsors and it wasn't mentioned by commentators that I heard (or the guys in the studio, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't mention it pregame anyway).

A gutsy and determined win over a brave French team for the ABs! But watch out because the challengers are coming to try and knock them off, England, Wales, South Africa, France and of course the Wallabies. Great to see Mr. Mc Caw play well and keep his team together when needed and the Duck managed to come on to kick the winning penality. Let me just say the Wallabies have a good young team and will be serious challengers for the ABs in the next 4 yrs.

Yes, the Wallabies have a good young team but so does the ABs (Owen Franks, Sam Whitelock, Aaron Cruden, Colin Slade, Israel Dagg, and more still coming out from the factory)...

But in this modern days, age counts for nothing and whether young or old the Wallabies will always be serious challengers. Same goes for other teams.

It's all about turning up on the day and giving it your all....like France did last night.

The IRB awards once again reflects the ABs domination of World rugby winning team and coach of the year-fourth win for GH
as coach of the yr. The ABs have won more Tri-nations, Bledisloe, 4 Grand Slams, have only lost 2 games in 23 tests in the NH in 18 years and appeared in more WC finals series than any other team. Their winning percentage of 85% is a record and will never be beaten in modern day rugby! The merchandise brand of the ABs is the biggest selling rugby product of all time! Rugby fans from Spain, USA, Italy, Japan, China, Germany the ABs a well known brand known around the world and Addias recognised this brand and has the ABs undfer their wing world wide!! Of course other rugby playing Countries try to knock the ABs off and this is expected. Without doubt the ABs are rugbys greats team ever!!!

Thanks boys. Unbelieveable weekend, voice is still hoarse. Long old trip up and back, but totally worth it.

I will be lucky if I ever experience anything like that again & still as happy as a pig in proverbial. Just fucking brilliant. Think I even shed a wee tear when Richie lifted Bill.

Thanks to alot of the GAGR boys for being good sports - via this forum, via twitter etc.

jersey with 1987 and 2011 under that little cup on the sleeve, is on order already.

Well yeah, those two. But I meant the Soccer World Cup; as NZ were the only undefeated team, many proclaimed them the real winners (me included.
