Congrats you lot with your teams won. This was this very special groups biggest win by far. Mentally it will mean a lot to them for next week and just maybe their turn around to win it from here.

Myself, well I am still shocked by the loss and cant really blame the Springbok players or coaching staff for this one. They sure gave it their best shot and thats enough for this Bok supporter.

Always a silver lining in a loss and myself looking forward to start of a new Bok coach and player cycle. (also great to have our CC players back next weekend. WeePee will need them in the play offs)

Feeling not so sad for those retiring from international rugby. They sure have achieved everything in world rugby and time to move on!

Enjoy the win and good luck for next week!

Boet, that game was a massive battle. Well done also to South Africa. You could have and probably should have won it.

Both sides put everything in but Australia got out of jail, mainly just through defence. We don't see many games like that.

The great thing about yesterdays game was that everybody, Wallabies, Springboks and match officials had a blinder. I would have been happy had the Wallabies lost. It was everything that you watch sport for. What an epic!
Unfortunately it was followed up by absolute dross . Nigel Owens ( metaphorically ) ought to be hung, drawn and quartered.

I have no hesitation in offering congratulations to the Wallabies. Not the prettiest game by a long way, but hopefully even those that just like to see helter skelter rugby could appreciate the enormous effort the Wallabies put in today. Either side could have taken it, Springboks had ample opportunities and had they taken more of them they could have eliminated the random number generator in the middle, which I thought came up yellow a few more times today than green.

I've said many times to friends, there is no shame in losing when you've given it your all and play a good game. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to say that about SA very often lately when they lose, we seem to be the new France. Today wasn't one of them, the Springboks can hold their heads high. Mistakes, sure, but also some very strong periods of play.

Farewell to some of the legends, been a pleasure watching you since around 2004. Enjoy the rest guys.

Good luck for the semis to the sides who got through.

Gee we have some top posters from the Republic on this forum, I wouldn't have gone near a Springbok discussion forum at the moment if the roles were reversed.

Sums up my thoughts on Bryce's performance. I'd say we got the rub of the green but some of the drivel coming out of certain sections of the UK (weirdly) and South African press/fanbase has been far more bizarre and disappointing. Guess we shouldn't be surprised, people love to blame refs first and love a conspiracy.

Will be interesting to see how the team goes with a new captain and coach, not to mention starting with Bismark.

Well said Paarlbok.

I have heard a lot of whinging from Saffa's about the refereeing. I would agree if your blokes scored a try. More defence like that and we can win it.

PB, I can honestly say: you're one of the many reasons I come back here. I always enjoy your vibrant spirit and comments, and I've learnt a huge amount about the qualities and traditions of SA rugby from you. All positive. Like others, thanks for this post. SA to now do a Wales or an Aussie and bring in a bunch of young players and watch what I'll bet will be great 'new' SA team emerge to challenge us once more!

Cheers Paarl. You would have to be one of the most genuinly passionate supporters on this forum and that just makes your post all the more gracious. Blue made a similar post yesterday and the same applies to him also. If I ever meet you in person, I would have no problem shouting the first round mate.

All the best for Western Provence next week just so you can have something rugby smile about.

A quater final loss does not do justice to how the Bokke side represented your country and all of SA should be very proud.

South Africa can look forward to having a lineup that should pretty much always feature Bismarck, Alberts, Lambie, Hougaard, and possibly Aplon and de Jongh in the starting XV.

I'm going to miss some of Pdiv's crazy quotes though.

Just want to echo the sentiments in this thread. That was a bloody hard game and I was a nervous wreck afterwards - and we won! I would be pretty shattered if I was a Saffa, so I have a lot of respect for the sentiments that Paarl, Blue and a few of our other South African friends have shown.

Well done to the Springboks too, many of them have seen the pinnacle but I will be sad not to come up against opponents like Matfield and Smit again.

Thanks, PB. Your team played a fantastic game. I really thought they were going to break out and put a couple of tries over. Sensational effort, outdone only by some courageous defense and more than our fair of luck.

Good luck for the CC!

Have to say commiserations to the Bok fans. If the Wallabies lost in similar circumstances I would be filthy. Was a huge effort by the Boks, and you can't fault the Bok players for the effort they put into that match.

Thanks Ash but I do fault them for not going for another drop goal when it became obvious that they weren't going to get through.

Feel gutted for Rossouw for giving away the penalty that cost the match. His last test will hold one of his worst memories.

Can I help you?

Smit starting.
Spies. Jesus he is farking useless.
No drop goals with all that field position agaisnt a defense that had us worked out.
Not turning scrum adavantage into any points.
Dropping the ball with an open tryline (FdP - twice)
Not being able to vary our attack when it wasn't working.

Ok I'll shut up now.
