Um to kick arm you have to use your foot, that was his shin, but regardless I thought it was illegal trying to kick ball out of hand.

He can't kick the ball but I believe he can try to get his foot under the ball to prevent it being forced. Not sure what the Laws say about his shin contacting the arm: TMO clearly thought it wasn't kosher but ref & AR were OK with it.
