Melbourne Rebels' glamour English import Danny Cipriani has been fined one match payment over an incident where he reportedly stole a bottle of vodka from a nightclub.

..."We will be treating each one of the players equally and we'll be treating each one of them as adults and if they don't act as adults the repurcussions will come," Macqueen said.

"One of the things we strive to do is have high standards ... And this has been disappointing for us.

"Nothing is ever perfect. Nothing comes out the way u want but as long as we try to keep those standards, it will hopefully lead to being a better club."

What about journalistic standards? Ferchrissakes!

Did anyone else find Cipriani's apology a little less than 'full and frank'? No direct apology to the club he attempted to steal from and then waste twenty minutes of their time refusing to leave. No direct apology to the fans. Apparently he has 'agreed' to stand down if it happens again... does he have a choice?

It would appear that he still doesn't understand the gravity of his stupid spoilt brat behaviour...

These days with reporters having laptops and spell check, I think they've sacked all the sub-editors to save money and allowed reporters' stories to go straight to print.

Lee and what fine was imposed by the Force for Cameron Shepherd going DUI . If this was a third string player as you elude to this incident would not not have even come to anyones notice. Not that it makes it right but the reality is this was a really minor incident not of theft but of a bloke skylarking with a couple of other young blokes ( waratah players ) and acting inapropriately . The club has acted strongly and decisively and with full knowledge of the facts not the newspaper reports.

Shep got fined $15,000 DD.

Agree his offence was far more serious, especially considering his track record.

Crikey. You could not make that up.

Unless that was an interview-by-text, quoted in the fully sic fashion? Nah that is amazing. Amazingly bad, that is.

One thing at least, it is good to know that here at G&GR we still have some concept of journalistic standards. Also, if a speech to text application translates "you", one of the more common words in the English language, as "u" they have problems, and that ignores the misspelling.
