Just confirmed on twitter by the man himself.

Is this good or bad for the Rebels? The way JOC (James O'Connor) played on Sunday you would think they aren't shedding too many tears at Rebels HQ.

Some good, some bad, but two years was always going to be his maximum, methinks.

How much salary cap does he free up (was he on a big deal)? Could be useful in attracting some quality new talent.

Bad. JOC (James O'Connor) ran well on Sunday, but his passing, kicking and game management were all distinctly average. We looked much, much better when Cipriani came on and JOC (James O'Connor) moved to 12.

I think Quade's price has just gone up a bit. The Reds, Force and the Rebels will want him next year.

Really, I don't care.

We'll find another 10. Although, I agree with Dumbledore, JOC (James O'Connor) looked heaps better as a 12 than a 10.

Edit: I mean, we managed to survive losing a top class tight head prop. Why get all fussy about losing a less important player?

Agree that J'OC is still a much beter 12, but he can develop, given time. Game management can be learnt.

Delve will be the much bigger loss, I think.

We'll take Quade for him. Get the three amigos together. Can only be a good thing for Australian rugby.

Cooper will move to the Force because he's scared of Pocock

Good riddance to Cipriani. Will go down in Rebel history as one of the worst buys

Disappointing but expected. We all know Danny has had his issues, but off the field he is a very nice guy, on the field he was the first ever player to commit to our club, and in general, he is someone that will always hold a part of Rebel history.

wasn't unexpected, and he's been a real asset that will be difficult to replace as far as I am concerned. I wish him well on his path to English honours. Nows the time to pound out some great games Cips!

re Quade- any Aussie team management would have Quade, he's a great drawcard, but can't see him moving from the Reds and the $ can probably be better spent boosting the overall team. Really like the guy and love his flair, but you could probable get 3 talented young fellas for his salary.

Huxley easily trumps danny...by a mile!

not unexpected. he will have a long slog ahead to replace farrell who has looked exceptional. i think he can outgun toby flood - one of the more curious and oxford-like rugby players i've ever seen.

An amicable departure for/from Cips is very sensible. He may have had one or two excellent performances for you, but IMO they were the notable exception. His defence in 2011 was truly appalling - and, critically, uncompensated for by consistent impact and skill - and cost you serious points on more than one occasion. Sale should send Muggleton a crate of fine champagne for putting Cips on the road to a capacity to tackle adequately. Cips is a massive distance from a Test start as England 10, that is pure ego as much as it is objective aspiration.

I would still contend that if Macqueen had done a Link and looked for less glamorous talent for his 10 in the under bushes of NSW and QLD and NZ/SA rugby, and taken a few more risks with youth or the unconventional choice (a la Beau R, Samo, Harvey, Harris, Pretorious etc), the Rebels would have prospered more. Just for example, the Rebels could likely have recruited Dallan Murphy from QLD, whom I guarantee is a more talented and complete player at 10 than Cips and would have been probably been with you for 3-5 years. But in late 2010, everyone would have said 'Dallan who...are you kidding...from Brisbane Premier Grade?'.
