The idea of swapping Jacomb and DMac when Roe came on is not bad I thought. But I will add again, we are going to be saying next year RMo who??

Was an improved performance.

Parts of the Brums seem a bit stale to me. Noah will help a bit but not much regeneration in the side and making Sapsford a 12 isn’t going to work v good sides. Might be time to move on from the Jack Deb types and start blooding the youngins like Wilcox and so on.

Many Brumbies supporters were calling for Debreczeni to be selected for the Wallabies last year. He was never a chance.

Unlike Lonergan to be inconsistent with his goal kicking. He’s usually very reliable.

It's weird in the first ten minutes we run it from our 20 .. 5 to go chasing we give the ball away
I understand the plan to some degree, Muirhead recovering an earlier one from Lonergan was important in the lead up to the Pollard/Scott linebreak and Toole's eventual walk-in try in the corner. Its been a fundamental of our gameplan for years and Lonergan in the main executes them pretty well. Goddard was ok in games last year too but hasn't nailed them so far this year.

Tough game - but Chiefs at home and they pushed the all the way.. Still - disappointing to see them go down.

I must say Pollard is showing the benefits of an extra years development IMO. Which is funny because it’s really only about 13 weeks since the EOYT - but he looks bigger and more powerful to me.

I do remember his name being thrown up - but very sparingly so I’m thinking it was just from 1-2 posters.

well. dolman. wow. needs to be investigated. tupia massive forward pass for there first or second try. they took tools head off when he went back for that kick on his try line. called a forward pass that Lenny through which was fine and then has the ball held up and the first replay shows the ball on the ground. what a first half from flogman that was. haha flogman

chiefs deserved it. doleman is unreal though. some very bad calls and a NZ team win again. pretty good performance from the Brumbies.

Brumbies have had the hardest start of all Aus sides. Starting in Fiji and now Chiefs in NZ.

I think they’ll be alright going on that performance. Other Aus sides haven’t done dick yet in comparison. Force could argue winning in Canberra is up there but not quite.

Some really critical pundits in this thread with their comments of mid-table and such. Feel like the Brumbies put in a pretty solid performance but were lacking in a few critical areas. Lonergan failing to kick his conversions was a sore point that had a big impact. Also not converting that opportunity right before half time was poor and will irk the coaches. There were some poor defensive reads/tackles not executed that allowed the Chiefs space where there really shouldn't have been any and what felt like soft tries, though I think that understates the athleticism and pace of some of the Chiefs squad.

But all that said, they gave the team who was in the finals last year and many are touting to win it this year a reasonably tight game which they were very much in with a chance of winning. It was a clear step up from last week.

I think the Brumbies will prove to be well in the top 5 teams deep into the comp. They've had a couple of tough games. It's early days. I'm not sure pumping any teams tyres at this stage has much meaning, maybe except the Chiefs who are really good.

Perhaps the Brumbies will indeed finish top five - they could have started in a way to make that much easier though. It's a short season. Right now the Brumbies are the only Aus team outside of the top 5. Both Waratahs and Reds are there having played a game less than the Brumbies.

Anything can happen of course, it's only Round 3.
