One of the bigger Cranbrook packs I have seen in a while.

With a try around 10 minutes before half, Cranbrook were looking likely to go over again before the end of the half before an illegal tackle by the Trinity Number 5 on 2 Johann Ah-Colt, obviously sent off and ending the game. Do wonder if Judicial action will be taken, a very dangerous tackle. Glad to hear he is okay, hope he is not out too long.

Obviously a big scoreline but without the injury and a red card to trinity would have been interesting to see what came of the rest of the game. Anyways, interesting to see these two teams come up against each other again during CAS. Trinity won the backs, Cranbrook won the forwards.

I agree with some of this. I was at the game. Trinity were the much more dominant team and were likely to have won the game. They won the game with their forwards and backs. I don't believe Cranbrook would've clawed there way out either. Trinity played well, and Cranbrook below par. Poor discipline was ultimately their downfall with too many knock-ons, missed tackles and not much support in the ruck. A lot to work on for these boys but I do believe this isn't a reflection of how the season will play out. Best of luck to both these teams, Congratulations to Trinity, and I hope that hooker from Cranbrook is ok.

Yes, I agree - and as a Trinity old boy and Cranbrook parent, I think I can offer an even-handed assessment. Cranbrook did not "win the forwards". Levi Funa made some great runs, and Cranbrook's scrum looked marginally stronger: but Trinity's lineout was better and they were also marginally better at the breakdown, securing more turnovers than Cranbrook. There were a lot of unforced handling errors from Cranbrook. On the other hand, Cranbrook certainly improved as the game went on. Some astute kicking and strong chasing earned them better field position, and then they used their big forwards well. Early on, they tried to run the ball from near their own line, apparently thinking that they could beat Trinity out wide, and it misfired badly. Full credit to them for switching the game plan when it became clear that it wouldn't work.

Trinity's tries were scored by Brock Prideaux (2), Logan Toohey and Cody Ramanauskas.

Trinity now takes on St Patrick's at Strathfield on Saturday, a game which is always played with plenty of feeling.
