CAS Rugby 2023

Aloys pre CAS draw has been published.

Stannies, Kinross, Sydney Grammer (twice) and Pius (twice).

Presume the need to double up on Pius and Grammer comes from needing to find appropriate match ups (both in terms of numbers of teams and standard of play)
That would seem like a sensible decision from them.

Can always tell who the schoolboys are on this forum! My guess, Waverley boy taking the mick out of their east rivals...

Yes of course, I was just providing a rough copy, but I still do believe this will be very close to a round 1 team.
Do you have any predictions WLF3?
Schoolboyfooty (HA!),

At this stage I think it's too hard but here are a few obvious names that were in the 1sts last year that aren't on your list, and a few others, who I would expect will be there or thereabouts.

1. Joseph Tangi - Prop
2. Zion Potaiha - 2nd row
3. Asher Te Rata - 2nd row
4. Last years 1sts Hooker, Jonas Dowling.
5.Last years 1sts number 8, Noah Teofaeono
6.Last years 1sts no 10, Caleb Sinclaire Harris.
7. Darcy Standfield no 9, 2nds last year.
8. A winger will definitely be Billy Lyons, injured last year.

I also think Jonti will be no 13, not 12, so 12 is wide open.
We will need a kicker so I think a possible winger will be Felix Tuinui.

The trials will be telling as many boys grow/change dramatically in 1 year, and suddenly rise.

Agree, so I have pointed out some obvious omissions but the poster could be from a number of schools, as the Cranbrook suggested team is just stupid.!

That's a very good shout.
My apologies didn't realise that many players are coming back.

Any updates from Barker and Knox pre-season? How are the squads shaping up?
Hi Props are people too,
Good news from Barkers Pre-season. They had a very successful and tough army style camp up at Singleton. put them scholarship boys to work. But bad news Hamish Mcdonald has a groin related injury, estimated to be out for 4 weeks. However I have a few concerns with the forward pack as they have lost a lot of the year 12s from last year.
Ruckinator out.

Be interesting to see how Barker go with their new influx this year into the firsts team(their standard pillaging of the ISA u16’s team has continued). 5 or 6 new boys coming in to try make the team as good as last year - but Knox and Cranbrook will be strong in 2023.

Picking Cranbrook to win in 2023 with Knox in 2024.

Muriti and etc who last year were said to be joining barker are not in the squad. Seems this year most will be returning players

My predicted barker side this year from current students
1. Cooper Stapleton (2nds/1sts)
2. Kade Stanton (2nds)
3. Nick Jill (16A/1sts)
4.Adam Van Wyk (1sts)
5. Nathaniel Thomas (16As/1sts)
6. Micho Lounser (2nds)
7. Matthew Hanley (1sts)
8. Leo Gibb (1sts/2nds
9.Kera Weaver (16As/1sts)
10. Josh Crowther (2nds)
11. Matthew sentonaris (16As)
12. Andrew Wheals (2nds/1sts)
13.Hamish Mcdonald (1sts)
14.Benjamin Blanchard (2nds)
15. Charlie Poynton (1sts)
What are your thoughts? I’d be interesting to see if barker trial poynton at the ten with lots of depth in the 15 position.
So is the team still looking like this? Or will the new boys fill in for various spots?

Saw this posted on the GPS forum and thought it would be good here aswell.

As the season nears, I have a few questions to ask (if you are a reliable source).

1). If there are ANY new boys who have joined the school you support that may either make 1s or 2s. What are their names and positions?

2). Does anyone have ANY updated team predictions for your favoured school's 1st XV?

3). Any players to look out for and why when their school is playing? (3 or 4 players would be ideal)

4). How your favoured schools pre season is going (if they have started).

Just wanting to hear your opinions and information for the exciting season to come.

Congrats to Isaya Katoa (Barker 2022 5/8th) who has been picked to start for the Dolphins in the NRL first round this weekend. He was picked ahead of Anthony Milford. I hope Eddie Jones keeps an eye on him as he loves rugby. World cup 2027 maybe.

He will have a long career Rod. A great talent.
